III.41
Jon didn't spend fourteen years perfecting being Joanna Stark to lose the game of thrones.
Jon/Joffrey (Genderswap Time Travel Fixit)
Jon smiled sweetly as Joffrey took his hand, kissing the back of it. He knew this form he was in, this Joanna Stark he'd been reborn as, was beautiful--the best mix of Stark and Targaryen features--and if a girl had smiled like that at him in his last life, he'd be a blushing fool.
Joffrey, more used to it, only seemed slightly affected, but it was enough. Claimed as Robb's younger twin sister and older and more Stark-like than Sansa (not looking much like his mother Lyanna, he knew, outside of coloring, no matter what Robert blathered on about), he'd be the one betrothed to the nasty little monster.
But monsters could be tamed and who better than a warg and a dragonrider to do that?
Even though he'd lived a whole life as Joanna, fourteen years stretching back, he still remembered these last days at Winterfell as a boy well enough. He charmed everyone he could, Catelyn (mother, and how much did that hurt, knowing the parts between his legs decided whether Catelyn Stark liked him or not?) impressed despite his previous efforts to learn as many skills as possible he couldn't pick up in his last life. She'd known he could act the lady when he wanted to, but rarely wanted to.
Now she thought Joanna wanted to go South, wanted to be Queen. That he liked letting Joffrey escort him through the glass gardens and slobber over him. It was ridiculous, but served his purpose.
Some things stayed the same, though, horribly. Bran still fell, though Joanna had been with Cersei when it happened so Jon had no idea what had caused it (Bloodraven, maybe, had always manipulated events for it to happen). Jaime certainly wasn't sleeping with anyone else but his sister, especially not with the way he eyed Joanna, possibly seeing Rhaella, maybe looking for a Dayne's influence.
The mother direwolf still died, the antlers buried in her a horrible omen Jon disliked all the more the second time around.
And, though neither of his parents told him, he still knew Lysa's lie had made its way to them. That they thought the Lannisters had killed Jon Arryn.
From this new-old perspective, Cersei was...something. Knowing as Jon did that she thought herself far more clever than she was, it was easy to get within the cracks and crevices of her thoughts with flattery and thinly veiled assurances that Joanna would be devoted to Joffrey and his rule once they were wed. He could not pretend to be the naive girl Sansa had been, it wasn't something he could maintain, but he could let Cersei see herself reflected in Joanna. Easier still because they were both twins, because Joanna could quietly bemoan how much he wished he'd been the boy to Robb's girl, and because Joanna shared her mother's name. Fate playing some part, maybe.
Robert was a handsy fool, but he stayed around Ned enough to not grope his daughter. Jon didn't necessarily have faith that would continue once they reached King's Landing and Ned was busy doing Robert's job, but he could use that, too. Ingratiate himself more with Cersei, drive a wedge between Joffrey and Robert. If Tywin showed up, maybe he could even make him think of Aerys and his Joanna.
Jon had watched the world burn in the last life because of these people, he'd use them however he wanted in this life, no matter how dishonorable some of it might be.
