The best I can suggest is they already made the decision to hyphenated "50s - type" in Betty's dialogue, so for uniformity it goes in Archie's. (No apostrophe though).

And now revising a story on generational doting and nostalgia, we trip all over ourselves into a mite incoherence.

Middle aged become older. Except they remain the same age in picture.

... And since they are the same age, they are now reminiscing about their parents' "good ol' days". That happens.

Jughead retains the phrase "middle aged", though.

When you think of the 2020s, you think of heavy metal, video arcades (Pac Man!), and salad bars. Also projecting from 1989 into the now and we are driving rockets without gas. George Glaidir's sense of the future is hit and miss.

The new special Moi-même-Moitié menu for the Vampire Cafe has appeared. The dishes and drinks will run from July 1st to August 31st. Once again the menu item names were selected by Mana, who tweeted that he decided on something a little easier this time.

The drinks are “The frenzy of blood starved variants (zombies) reviving in Matul”. It’s a reference to the movie “Sangeria” aka “Zombi 2″. It is the alcoholic blue drink on the left, made with rum, Malibu (coconut rum), milk, and pineapple. 

Next is the non-alcoholic drink on the right. “A bloody tragedy of love and madness swirling at night on prom” is made with Calpis, lemon and tomato juice. Given that you need to pour the tomato juice into the drink, I’m going with “Carrie” as the movie reference, even though there are a lot of horror prom movies.

As for the pasta, that is “Dark elves dancing in the white night in a rose garden dripping with pleasure”. At least that’s the translation I’m going with because I like it. It is cold pasta with steamed chicken and summer radish with yogurt sauce.

This is the special Moi-même-Moitié menu for Vampire Cafe for November and December. Along with these items, they also have a Moi-même-Moitié set meal which includes a avocado and salmon Caesar salad, nuts and anchovies with garlic toast, the spice and herb chicken and two colors of ice (this might be ice cream) along with the main Moi-même-Moitié course and cake. I can say from experience that the set meal is enough for two people. You can also order the individual Moitié items separately.

As for the new Moitié drinks and main course, named by Mana, here is what I could figure out. 

The non-alcoholic drink is called “The fate of the blue rose that tears and erodes the feelings of innocence”. It is a mix of Ramune, orange and pineapple juices, soda and blue syrup. 

The alcoholic drink is called “Jade of temptation and blue green of grief were the bloody fate of the rose”. It is gin, milk, blue  curaçao and gum syrup. 

The new main course is called “A burning melancholy goes with a scarlet rose to oblivion”. The dish is a gratin brûlée with salted koji salmon and sweet potato. Mana’s comment on Twitter about the dish was that it is a beautiful cuisine in a whirled up flame. 

The cake is the same as they have had previously. I’m a little sad they switched from the cake with the jewel cross cookie.

Poop café, Toronto

Oh god, it’s been over a month since I’ve written something that isn’t a mocktail recipe, how does this work again?

Last month, a small shop called the Fujiwara Tofu Cafe opened in a strip mall somewhere in the suburbs of LA.  Since then, they’ve been regularly running out of inventory as fans of Japanese muscle cars and racing culture make the drive in from as far away as Las Vegas.  Why? Because it’s Initial D themed. 

If you, like me, only know of Initial D as “that… game? anime? that that “Running in the 90s” song is from,” allow me to formally catch you (and myself) up to the phenomenon.  The 1995 manga (which ran until 2013 and was later adapted into animes, video games, and live-action movies) about a young man who learned how to street race- specifically, drifting, a cultural phenomenon of its own in Japan since the 1970s- in his laughably unassuming-looking Toyota Corolla while working as a delivery driver for his father’s tofu shop.  This is where the restaurant theme comes in: everything is soy based, from silken tofu puddings to homemade soy milks.  And the whole place is decked out with Initial D memorabilia- including arcade games in the back and the owner’s replica of the infamous Toyota Corolla parked out front.

To give you an idea of just how beloved this series is, so many customers lined up on its opening day (January 20th) that many reported wait times of up to 6 hours.  And if you’re still struggling to grasp just how influential this series is, the Fast and the Furious franchise (especially Tokyo Drift, for obvious reasons) would probably have never existed.  It’s kind of a big deal.
