Sweat was running down the teens face, breaths coming in and out at a heavy fast pace. His lungs burned, but so did his left arm that hung loosely at his side as he ran through what looked like a forest unlike Earths. Something was after him, an alien that looked more like a beast. It was as tall as a two story suburban home and heâd been able to keep out of its way for about two days now, but when the teen caved in to search for food along its territory, the beast was set out to kill.
He couldâve just used his portal gun, but it had short circuited and the teen had been stuck traveling through different dimensions for two weeks, the coordinates only working at random no matter what he put in, though obviously no where important since heâs been stuck in unfamiliar places. Now, with the device at a very low charge, he had been trying to save what he could to try and make it back home, the answer was /how/. He wasnât a Rick, wasnât nearly as intelligent, and that fact alone hit him in a way that hurt his heart. He resented all Ricks and felt pity for their Mortys. He loved and cherished every alternate of his and had to watch as they all got used and abused by their drunk alcoholic grandfathers. He didnât hate Ricks, the boy didnât have it in him to hate anyone, but he still couldnât trust one. Which was why when he pushed in the next set of coordinates, he hesitated.
Heâs been to the Citadel plenty of times to talk with Mortys, but with the portal gun out of whack, he could literally end up anywhere within the Citadel, or a completely different universe with no way of getting back home. The numbers were locked in, but he hadnât shot it just yet, hoping to at least try and get away, but with the beast on his tail, he didnât have a choice. He raises his good arm and just as he shot the portal gun, he felt a claw rip into the back of his shirt, a sharp pain hitting his flesh just as he enters through the glowing green portal. His surroundings had drastically changed from tall dark bushy trees, to something entirely different, though he wasnât able to take it in right away because he ran right into a shelf, knocking off a bunch of its contents, glass shattering and other things could heard hitting the floor. Stumbling back suddenly from the force, he falls onto the ground as he watches the shelf wobble before coming down with a loud crash, just barely missing the boy.
Blood was spilling from his arm, his back, and now his head from having run into the shelf at such a speed. He almost felt like he was going to pass out, though he wasnât sure if it was from blood loss or how tired he was. He looks down at himself, all his Morty merchandise ruined, either blood stained or torn, or both and he sighs tiredly. The next thing he looks at was his surroundings and he blinks in confusion for a moment, wondering to himself if he had made it to the Citadel or somewhere else, but as soon as it dawns on him that itâs indeed a lab, dread and fear start to seep into his gut. Quickly looking around, he wants to get up and run, but his body screams in protest, sore and exhausted. He knew he had to at least do something, he had made such a loud entrance that he knew anyone could be coming any second. Shuffling underneath the closest desk, he brings his shaky knees to his chest and places his good hand over his mouth to try and stop himself from breathing so loud, not yet caught his breath from the running he just had to do, so instead he inhales and exhales through his nose as he prays to whatever God was out there, that a Rick wouldnât show up to take him and his portal gun away.
