Autumn afternoon in my bed 🍂☕️

Halloween reads! 🔮🍂 I’ve received a ton of requests for Halloween book recommendations lately, so I thought I’d share a few of my favorites and a few I’m about to explore for the first time. The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury is my favorite Halloween book (of fiction, anyway) and one of my favorite books in general. A story of Halloween adventure melds with Bradbury’s phenomenal writing style to immerse you in one of the most magical and autumnal tales ever. A group of friends set out to trick or treat when one of them is taken away, maybe for good. With the help of a mysterious spirit, they travel through time and space to try to save their friend, learning much about the Celtic, Egyptian, and other roots of Halloween traditions along the way. Poems Bewitched and Haunted features poems from many genres and time periods, organized by spooky subject matter like hags, apparitions, and ghosts. I revisit this anthology every October and find it incredibly inspiring! The other four books pictured are new to me this year. I just started Equal Rites, the first book of The Witches Trilogy by Terry Pratchett, and I’m already swept away by how immersive his fictional world is. It helps that this story features some seriously badass witches! As for nonfiction, I’m so excited to begin reading Trick or Treat, since it has received many accolades for its thorough investigation of the origins of Halloween, and I can’t wait to dive into Lewellyn’s Little Book of Halloween and Silver Ravenwolf’s Halloween for recipes, crafts, spells, mythology, and more! This is just the tip of the iceberg, but there’s definitely something here for everyone! 🎃🍃
