Today is my dads 60th birthday. Its been crazy seeing both my parents get older. A guy who's always been this strong macho proud man from Michoacán. Man who had worked his entire life to take care of everyone he could. A man who never went to school, never learned to read but has a wealth knowledge. A man who has dealt with many demons but who I have seen light up an entire room with his personality and all those Jokes and stories that all my tios and primos can agree with. A man who til i was an adult was a mystery to me. I never grew up with my parents together or with my dad around all the time but in a way he was always there and would always be there if needed. He is a man who hides is pain and fears to make sure the world around him is fine. Many of his qualities I've only wished I had. My relationship with him has finally grown and it brings me great joy to have him around much more. Listening to the amazing life he's has, his dreams,his regrets. I try my best now to make sure i can help my father in any way I can as he showed me growing up. He'd give you the shirt off his back without second thought. A complex man, a strong man, my dad.
