Margo and her father were out working on a case together, one of the few occasions when he was okay with her tagging along as they were looking for a few people to question. Eli wasn't to far away as his super hero persona je was looking for the newest threat of the city known as shadow, who can mimic each person who has powers and takes or even gives a part of his power to anyone.
There was a man in his late 20s whom she assumed was just another witness as she was asking questions until she realized something was off about him. Turns out he was the person who they were looking for as he grabbed margo, trying to hold her as a hostage until Eli came and move her out of harms way but not before the man aka ' shadow' shot what looked like electricity from his hands. It missed eli and shot through margo causing her to fall back on the floor, stunned.
