The Cowsills Live on Game Changers With Vicki Abelson
What’s better than sitting down with your old friend and childhood hero, Bob Cowsill? Being surprised when Paul and Susan Cowsill join him. Us. What fun! The Cowsills (Hair, The Rain, The Park, and Other Things, We Can Fly), currently out on The Happy Together Tour, are the real-life Partridge Family, upon whom the show was based. A fan since the 60s, they adorned my walls and turntable. I love them.
Bob Cowsill holds the distinction of having the most viewed video on my YouTube channel, over 203K views and counting, daily, years after its release. Bob's Women Who Write appearance, middling for the late, great Ed Asner, with incredible opener, James Morrison, of 24, was a KILLER! It was an instant classic, timeless, not to be missed! It'll make you happy, happy, happy, as no doubt this 4th sitdown with the always ridiculously entertaining, funny man and the second with the lot of 'em will.
We talked about their watching The Beatles on Ed Sullivan, and the impact they had on Bob and Bill, their first two failed record deals, some oddly named group, Simon & Garfunkel, who bested them. The third deal was the charm with The Rain, The Park & Other Things written for them. How Mom, Paul & Susan each joined the brothers. How Hair came to them, thank you, Carl Reiner...how pleasing their fans, whether on The Happy Together Tour, which they've opened for 11 years, or on The Flower Power cruise, which they do annually, is their primary purpose. They always play their hits and love doing so.
We talked about their new releases, Rhythm of the World, Global, and the upcoming The Cocaine Drain, and their long-awaited a cappella album. If you're lucky enough to catch one of their bi-monthly Cowsills gigs, you might get to hear Is Your Love Alive, or other previously unreleased gems. But you can bet you'll hear their classics and some great covers. They are now and have always been crowd pleasers, and that includes sitting down with them. They're open, fun, clearly love each other, and have infectious enthusiasm for what they do and life in general.
As always, whether at one of their shows or chatting, I had a ball. I trust you will, too.

Live with The Cowsill on Game Changers With Vicki Abelson
There’s so much wonderfulness and fun packed into this 1:15 Live, I’m woe to break it down and give any spoilers. Suffice it to say we talked about their avid, loyal fans, me being one, since kneesocks, their group dynamic, how the 7 came and went, family auditions, oh yes they did, how the harmonies stack, how the songs on their new album, Rhythm of the World, got written, recorded, and out there in spite of the pandemic and a stroke of someone’s bad business, the hero who saved the day, meet & greets, how they genuinely love their fans and invite all to join them, even when they’re eating, their podcast, Peter Noone for one, The Flower Power Cruise this March, another Happy Together Tour this summer, and always, Bob, Susan, and Paul, loving being together, whether taking a “snow day,” continuing to thrill their fans and make musical magic, or just chatting it up with the likes of me.
I’ve been blessed to present Bob a few times over the last decade, and stay close sending him the constant onslaught of comments that still post almost daily from his visit to my living room for Women Who Write years ago. I’ve met Susan a few times and attempted more than once to wrangle her here, Paul I’ve only gandered onstage till today, yet they all felt like family almost instantly. It’s who they are, what they do. I adore these three, all The Cowsills family, and have put in my request to be adopted.

Today Live with The Cowsills! Hair, The Rain, The Park And Other Things, Hair, Love American Style, to name but three... the real-life Partridge Family, upon whom the show was based, my childhood obsession, I've had the great good fortune to see them perform numerous times and the tremendous privilege of presenting Bob, whose Women Who Write appearance in Nov of 2014 was KILLER... the #1 most viewed video on my YouTube channel, still receiving comments, almost daily. It’s a set not to be missed for Bob fans, Cowsills fans, music fans! https://bit.ly/2CAlWNW It will make you happy, happy, happy. I've gotten to sit down with Bob twice on this show... his storytelling, impromptu breaking out in song, has been legendary! Tomorrow we get three. Susan and Paul added to the fantastical Cowsill mix. With their new album, Rhythm of The World, their podcast, touring, and their history which spans decades, we've got lots to talk about. 🤞ing that the Zoom delay won't stand in the way of us somehow tasting a few of their family harmonies which are nothing short of perfection.
I've loved these people since kneesocks... even more, knowing them as they are today... and this a first meet for me with Paul... crazy excited!

The Cowsills "The Very Best of..." LP. I suppose my old man instilled my love of pop music in me. Even stuff I tried to resist. Like The Cowsills. This was his album. I didn't fall in love with their all time classic "The Rain, the Park & Other Things" till a few years ago, a few years even after my pops croaked. When I was reading my Jan Berry mega biography earlier this year the name Artie Kornfeld was often mentioned as a co-writer of Jan & Dean songs, so I was amused to see he was the co-author of this monster too. Apparently he was also the co-organizer of Woodstock. Busy dude. But yeah, Canton's own, The Cowsills, are pretty alright. I can't help like what I like and I suppose I'm a bit of a dork. But at least I'm legit 😎 Also, "The Rain, The Park..." sounds stupid good on my system. I have mainly been listening to my Cowsills via Spotify on my phone or streaming off my TV over these past few years. #LP #Vinyl #Records #TheCowsills #TheVeryBestOf #TheRainTheParkAndOtherThings #BubblegumPop #PsychedelicPop #Canton #Ohio #ArtieKornfeld https://www.instagram.com/p/CivPox-Oc-R/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
