LISTEN UP!! ill.Gates x Stephan Jacobs Announce Epic Remix Contest!

West Coast Bass Pioneers ill.Gates and Stephan Jacobs have teamed up to host an epic remix contest calling novice music producers to submit their spin on the duo’s massive track ‘Flying’.

They reached out to me to help me support this epic contest, Top three tracks will be selected by ill.Gates alongside special guest judges Winners TBA June 23rd. Submissions are already pouring in with prizing valued at over $16k. So you know what that means, submit your track before the contest ends on June 12th!

Three weeks in the cold. It's an experience I will never forget.

Starting out was difficult, who wakes up at 5am to pray and watch Nigeria wake up to a trumpet (the Biggle)?

Then we had to learn to march. That part was funny especially as there were so many 'white fowls'.

I did a collection of weird things: football commentary, coach girls at volleyball - it's easy to guess why, general noisemaking.

But the best part, I met a lot of people. Really interesting people.

Kaitonna - name sounds Chinese, I know. Igbo boy, bred in Kaduna, schooled in Ota. David - Calabar boy with a Hausa accent. Tobi - Dark-skinned with drunken swag. Bisola - quiet, with a sharp tongue. Pinnick - the-rapist, enough said. Jane - everyone called her Pringles, she hid them in her pocket. The list is endless, really.

Not yet (surprisingly, given how much I’ve been walking), but I’m getting close. I should start using sunscreen soon...

English is nice; I can sing along with English. I’m also getting to the point that I can sing along and understand French songs which is great. Japanese and Br. Portuguese songs are pretty too...>.<; too many options!

3. Favorite album?

The soundtrack from Anastasia. Also Regina Spektor’s Far.

4. Favorite manga or anime?

YOU’RE GOING TO DO THIS TO ME?! REALLY?! Well, I guess...either Tegami Bachi, Dawn of the Arcana, or Takeru: Opera Susanoh Sword of the Devil.

5. Who are your otp?

6. Favorite desert?

Pumpkin chocolate chip muffins

7. What was your first fandom/obsession?

Pokémon. It always was, and always shall be.

8. How did you learn about said fandom/obsession?

My dad used to be the head pharmacist of the MT prison systems, but my mom and I needed to stay with Nana (my grandmother) in CO. So whenever he travelled, he would bring 5-yr-old me a present. One night he came home with a Vulpix plush he got from KFC, saying it was a really popular thing right now. He accidentally called it Ninetales. Apparently my mom warned him that it was a bad idea to introduce me to Pokémon, but he thought it was just a passing fad...oops.

9. On a scale of 1 to 10, how awkward are you?

About a 7 or 8. Leaning towards 8, but I’m slowly getting better.

Alright, hm...I wear a sleep mask. I started because I went to sleep much earlier than my roommate, and while we were both respectful of each other’s sleep schedules, the light from her laptop made it hard to get to sleep. Now that I’m at home, I’ve found it helps me to not imagine monsters in all the places I used to think I saw them as a child.
