I wanna dance in the Sun, howl at the Moon. Whatever I can to get through to you 'cause you're miles and miles away. And I wrestle at night with the pain in my heart. Keep to myself, bleed in the dark and in the morning, I say I'm okay. Maybe I'll tell you the truth 'cause even if it all falls apart, well, it's not as if I haven't been broken fifty times before. So flow me like a river. You're hungry like the sea. I give you all I have, but even after that you still want more from mе. You're hungry like the rivеr. And I'm open like the sea. How can this be love when I'm never enough? I'm not whatchu need.
The River by Rachel Platten
Can anyone tell me where to find the song that plays at the beginning of ep 30? I love it so much but I cant find it anywhere.
Introduction Of The River
The River is mother to many. She is the protector of many. Her children are the fish and plants, insects and reptiles. She feeds the families of bears in the nearby caves and gives a home to to the beavers building their dams. She cares for the creatures of The Earth.
The River feels her emotions deeply. She is in love with The Moon, yet The Moon does not notice her. The Moon is occupied with The Ocean. The River became heartbroken when The Moon did not return her feelings. But instead of getting angry, The River simply cried and decided to feed herself into The Ocean, hoping that her beloved would notice her efforts. However, no matter what The River did, the Moon did not return her feelings. The River would become lost in The Ocean, wishing that The Moon would someday love her.
Then there came The Man.
The Man was aggressive at first. But The River watched. She did not harm him, praying that he would change his ways. For days he waded through her waters, attempting to hunt her fish. The River protected her children, moving them along quickly from where The Man stood. It was the day he finally struck a fish when The River snapped.
The red blood from her child was spilt in her waters. She screamed to The Clouds, begging for them to help her. Within seconds The Clouds turned dark, they covered the skies. Rain began to pour down, and as the water hit The River, her water began to rush. The Man was swept from his feet. His head went under the water, hitting the rocks, drowning him. That’s when The River realized.
Her beloved was watching. The Moon was filled with horror. The River slowed down. She allowed her waves to bring The Man to the shore. The fish in her slowed. It was then that The River looked around. The land was soaked, it would take days to dry out. The Clouds were faint, just barely hanging on. The River began to cry.
The River cried all throughout the night. Her children and The Clouds wept. The Moon stayed silent, still scarred from the aggressiveness of The River.
In the morning, The Man awoke. The skies were gray, for even The Sun felt gloomy. The Sun had asked The Clouds if they could take charge for the day. The birds soared, softly chirping their songs of sadness. The Man began to wander, always staying near The River. The River began to wonder.
“I nearly killed him? How could he still stay near me?”
Eventually The Man picked something up. It was a stone with a sharp end. He began to walk back towards The River. As he walked through the water, he began watching. One of The Rivers children began to swim by, and The Man attempted to stab the water. Before The Man could hit the fish, The River began to come to life. The Thunder roared, giving a warning to The Man. He looked at the sky, and when he attempted to attack another child, the water began to move quickly and The Thunder roared again.
The Man took this as a sign to back away from The River. He looked at The River, then to the sky, then back at The River. The water slowed. The Man went to take a step near The River and noticed the water speeding up once more. The Man took this as a sign to stay out of The River. He began to walk, only stopping for the night.
By the fourth day, The Man began to stop walking as quickly. He was panting for breath. He was shivering at night. It was on the sixth day that The Man passed out.
Ali Farka Touré’s “Heygana”, from his album The River. Farka Touré was the only one of 10 children to survive infancy, a shocking testimony to the continued plague of infant mortality in West Africa today. His nickname “Farka” means “donkey”-- given his survival, it is appropriate. Like many West Africans, Farka Touré was multilingual, speaking Songhay, Fulfulde, Tamasheq, and Bambara. He probably also knew French.
