I love this song so much. I first started listening to The Bronze Medal while in London and absolutely fell in love. I was lucky enough to see them live while there in an intimate setting (about 30 other people). Largo quickly resonated with me. It isn’t so much the lyrics (although they are great) but rather the melody and melancholy vibe the song gives off. When I was flying home from London I listened to this song on repeat for about an hour and cried. It was the obvious emotions of the song paired with the emotions I felt leaving such an amazing country that got to me. Anyway, every time I listen to this song it brings me right back to London and I love that. Not sure why this band hasn’t blown up yet but it is only a matter of time.

The Bronze Medal - Darlings (2014)
Consistently, many Scottish artists somehow manage to make a pleasant soundtrack to melancholy. The Bronze Medal are just one of these, but they bring a unique fusion to the table. Their latest release, ‘Darlings’ is their first studio-length album and follow up to truly outstanding eponymous 2012 EP. It is tempting when listening to it to simply draw up all their seemingly obvious influences: the beautifully sad and soft baritone of The National; the up-beat bedroom synth of the Postal Service; the brass band touchings of Beirut. But in truth they really are something entirely original. The 45-minute jeremiad is delicately and masterfully produced, and commands the maturity of an older band’s third or fourth effort. As an outstanding debut, it deserves far more recognition.
