The Bridge
The Bridge - Måns Mårlind, Hans Rosenfeldt & Björn Stein
Season Four This season's meta-plot flows the unpredictable twists and turns of the previous ones but the writers make the mistake of giving us too many hints about the killer too early on.These twists and turns are harder to follow and it feels like there are more sub-plots happening than in the previous seasons. This just makes it very hard to keep track of what is happening. To make matters worse we are missing our hero for what feels like half the season - probably more like a third.
We start with Saga in jail which is just terrible given we know there is no way that she would ever do this. We have seen her destroy the relationships around her to do the right thing.
Coupled with this is her boss, unsupportive as ever. But Linn's perspective in this case perplexes me. She is cold and uncaring but gives Saga so much space when she returns. These two positions don't fit. The writers seem to have forgotten that the reason we are here is for Saga. But just putting her on screen and showing her idiosyncracies is not enough. While this sort of ham-fisted writing might have worked during the first season when we were getting to know her it does not fly now. We know her and we want to see her being an amazing police officer. We do not get to see this until the final episode where her brilliance returns and she figures out that there were two killers and she saves Henrick's newly found daughter's life. The rest of the season we see her struggle with self-doubt and panic attacks. I don't think that this is plausible now more than in the first season.
The trauma that triggered the attacks happened before the first season and for them only to be manifesting now makes little sense. The show ends with Saga leaving the police force because her psychologist said that she did it all out of guilt.
While I don't disagree with the psychologist per se, just because Saga's original motivation for joining the force is guilt it doesn't mean that there are other reasons she should now stay. The whole episode feels like Saga is manipulated rather than helped as we have seen the same thing happen to her in earlier seasons. A person wanting to help her suggests a course of action - she does it and it blows up in her face. It also cheapens her whole character and life in the force. The rest of the surrounding story is good and the plot is interesting if somewhat hard to follow. The great supporting characters are back and I think that they made the right decision to base this season on the Danish side of the Bridge so we didn't have to see Linn. The season wasn't all that bad. It was just such a huge disappointment compared to the first three and knowing that we will see no more Saga is just really disappointing. They did well closing off all the plots that had been bubbling along. I would highly recommend watching the first three seasons but this one is only good if you need the closure.

😡 . . . . #thebridgehulu #thebridgeseries #mujeresdejuarez #juarezwomenmurders #lasmujeresdejuarez (at American Fork, Utah) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZa_ggYAsBO/?utm_medium=tumblr

The Bridge - Ch 6-8
Pete It was very sweet of Pete for cheering Meredith. You can tell he does care about her a little. I was going to say that Pete shouldn’t be teasing Meredith when she was sad, but now that I think about it, he was probably trying to lighten up the mood. I am glad he was able to cheer her up because Drew is not worth your you moping around in Paris. OH! I have to say I love Pete’s coin trick too. How cunning was he? Definitely going to use that trick from him.
Karaoke Those two teams picked great songs to karaoke on 70′s night, but I think the boys chose the better one. Poor Meredith was messing up. I think a bunch of people including me would perform just as bad as her. Also, what a surprise that Dan can sing! I wonder how the author imagined Dan’s voice. When Meg was introduced, I was just thinking “oohhh Jill Cox don’t do to Meg the same way you did to Lindsay.” But I guess the author just wants to make Meredith not realize her jealousy of Pete dancing with Meg. Last but not least about the karaoke, how the heck did Pete get the whole room to dance? He must be really charismatic to be able to do that.
Not much thoughts with these few chapters, but the reading was still fun. I still can’t believe that Pete can just get everyone to dance along with him. Anyways, what did you think of Pete cheering up Meredith? What do you think Dan’s voice sounds like?

The Bridge - Ch2-5
Meredith’s Pen OMG that scene was soo cute! See I love little things like that in books. Meredith is frantic over her “missing” pen. Then Pete shows up and sits next to her all dashing as if he didn’t just disappear for the last couple of hours. He hands over her pen as if it was magic. He later makes a bargain with her that he’ll tell her how he had her pen if she allows him to carry her suitcase for her. Turns out the pen was just on her notebook, and all he did was grabbed it and handed over to her. She was in such a disbelief after accusing him of stealing her pen. I love them together. I love it when Pete gets to tease Meredith. I feel this is one of those situations where the characters can just look back in time and laugh about.
Chris Pratt The thing I hate most about Pete is that he looks like Chris Pratt *insert puking emoji here*. I basically didn’t even try to imagine him as Chris Pratt at all. Pete deserves better hahaha jk. Plus, doesn’t Chris Pratt’s church/pastor is against LGBTQ? Total turn offffffffff, but correct me if I’m wrong.
Dan The first time meeting Dan in the series, I thought “okay this guy seems all right.” This is me reading Dan’s introduction for the second time: DAN THE MAN! IT’S DAN THE MAN! He really is the man.
Rooftops Under Snow Meredith is staring out her window for the first time. Then Pete walks in and suddenly decides to join her. He mentions how by December she’ll have her own Rooftops Under Snow. This scene didn’t grab my attention as much as other scenes between Meredith and Pete in the book, but I do love that they get to share this little moment together. I just feels it will always be their moment. I will have to say after reading the series, this scene just gets more precious. I also love the way Pete runs out of her room like a kid after realizing he just won a bet against Dan that the first thing Meredith will do is go supply shopping.
Addison Girls As I was reading the scene where Meredith meets all of the Addison girls for the first time, I was just thinking “please don’t be fake friends who are only listening to Meredith’s problem because you are into gossips.” So glaaaaaad they weren’t!
Lindsay I personally don’t take selfies with duck lips. Actually I don’t take selfies at all, but that doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with that. I wish the author didn’t give so much hate towards Lindsay just because she does that, or maybe that is just how the author wants Meredith to react to it. If it is, Meredith stop being so judgy! Plus, another cliche I hate in RomComs is that the girlfriend or boyfriend of the person the main character’s love interest have to be terrible. As if they want you to dislike that person. I hate it because the main character’s issue isn’t “the other woman/man.” It is the person you have a relationship with, and in Meredith’s situation it is Drew. If you did have a relationship with the girlfriend then I guess that is fine, but so far it seems Meredith and Lindsay were just only good roommates in their first year of college. Plus, it wasn’t as if Drew cheated on Meredith. But then, if you do love someone, and they are not with you, you can’t help but hate everyone that person is in love with sometimes. Gosh, love is difficult.
Drew I know I said Pete looks douchey on the plane, but Drew sounds douchey. When Meredith was thinking about, he just seems so selfish about their relationship. But would that be how you guys would react if you were in his situation?
I am glad I was able to get a few chapters down this time instead of one. What are some of your favorite moments of Meredith and Pete? How did you imagine Pete or any of the other character’s appearance? Was Drew selfish to me as it was to you guys? And, isss Chris Pratt’s church againt LGBTQ’s?
