i can’t like sit still and read or watch or focus...

my brother had something similar happen (I don’t know how similar, but eye surgery while awake) when he was two or three and it’s been family lore ever since.

jesus i can’t imagine doing that as a child that is incredibly fucked up. Like it’s bad enough as someone old enough to know nothing bad will happen I can’t imagine being two or three.

it was maybe the worst thing that’s ever happened to me? It’s a contender for sure. And my surgeon is like really confident and competent and actually kind of incredibly hot and she was SO blase about it like “nah we’re not gonna put you out it’ll take five seconds it’s really no big deal” while i’m like “that...sounds fake... but ok...” She’s like “you good?” after she’s cut open my eyelid while i’m awake and i’m blinking back actual blood and honestly in retrospect probably going into mild shock and answering “ha HA FINE DOC ALL GOOD THANKS” instead of “this is the worst thing that has ever happened to me why is this continuing to happen”

Basically god bless my incredibly dreamy eye surgeon for distracting me from my visceral terror by being hot and good at eye surgery.
