Probably several million tbh, lmao. Nah, they call each other maybe at least once a day on their way homes from work to see if the other needs anything, if they wanna go home together etc. Or even a couple of times a day if they call each other in their lunch breaks. So… actually yeah several million times a week, oops. Dorks!!

How many calls has my muse missed from yours?

“wait, wait. you made this for me?” 

Melody nodded her head eagerly, smile bright and cheery as she watched Angus take in the food on the table before him. It had taken a lot of practice for her ( and a call or two to the fire department ) to get to this point where she felt confident enough to cook for him. There was the caprese salad ( easy ), butternut squash soup ( medium ), two juicy angus steaks with sides of asparagus & mashed potatoes ( hard ), and, to finish it all off, a decadent chocolate lava cake with homemade vanilla bean ice cream ( very fucking hard ). “I wanted to do something special for your birthday and this sounded better than going out to a restaurant.” Plus there wouldn’t be any wasted travel time from dinner back to her place so it gave them an extra twenty minutes together until he’d have to leave to relieve his babysitter. At 11 she started charging double, which was such an inconvenience but a smart business move. “Happy birthday baby,” she told him as she wrapped her arms around his neck to pull him in for a deep kiss. Maybe they’d skip straight dinner and go straight to dessert…

With every passing minute of this conversation the red head deflated. “Because it just is,” she huffed back at him, so frustrated that her argument was becoming lamer. “Valentine’s Day is the best—bouquets of red roses, pretty jewelry, boxes of chocolates, cuddly stuffed animals, really good champagne, and lacy lingerie.” Her last several holidays had been such let downs and now that she had a boyfriend who had his life together Melody had been hoping for her dream Valentine’s Day. “I’m not going to force you to do anything you don’t want to Angus, but it means a lot to me so it should mean a lot to you too!” If he couldn’t see that or didn’t want to give her this one day then maybe he wasn’t the one™ like she thought he was.

“Please don’t leave, I can’t live without you.” And with those words she stood in front of him in shock. He couldn't mean that, no he could not mean that for real. He couldn't give up on his life because she was not in it anymore, she did not even deserve him in the first place. She did not deserve him before and she did not deserve him now, not as this monster that she could not take control of. Everything was finally falling back into place for the worse and Meg was not taking him down with her, she wasn't going to let him get hurt again. "N-No.. Don't say that, do not say that Herc. You can, honey you'll be fine without me. You do not need me," Meg shook her head in disagreement. It would always be something they'd argue about but things were no longer in plain black and white. She was only trying to protect him. 

"I'm not doing this because I want too..." She barely had any freedom anymore, if she had to use the last of it to keep him safe, assure that he would live she would. He had saved her before, she'd do the same for him and she was sure he knew that by now. She would have given anything to go back to the other life that they had, before everything had become terrible again, before the curse had been set in but there was no undoing it. All she had wanted was to get married to him but now, that was no longer accessible. She was dead and Hercules, well he was exactly the same only without her. "It's better this way you need to believe me it is. I know you don't want to believe that but it's better with me out of your life," 

It was hard enough to sit around knowing that they were both miserable without each other, that she would have to live eternity of slavery to Hades unless some miracle had happened. They had no time to fix things and hers was running out, there was only so long before he had realized she was stalling and remembered Herc. There was only so long until the both of them would be put in danger and she was not ready for it. Tears stung her eyes as she came to the full realization that this could be goodbye. “I thought you said you’d never leave me.” The brunette sucked in a sharp breath her gaze dropping to her feet, kicking around at the dirt beneath her. Why did she have to love him so much? Why was this so hard?
