Alina shares some clothes, makes unfunded claims and enjoys a drop of self-deception
Ruin and Rising- Chapter 8
Why isn't Alina like this in anything that matters?!
Not like... "Your parents rich sponsor possibly not approving you're sharing your clothes with your friends."
Why doesn't she have actual goals, and doesn't play active role in achieving them?!
I would LOVE to see Alina use this very sentence for something worthwhile!
Empty words said once per book.
If Alina truly cared about any of this, she'd be mentioning it about as often as Malyen's possible discomfort. And she'd be actively DOING something to achieve it.
Peace for Ravka only on HER terms, since she thwarted exactly that, and acts as a figurehead of the civil war.
A chance to sleep easy in my bed without fear of being dragged out of her hole, and forced to DO something, yes. I DO believe this part.
(I'm also pretty sure Alina doesn't own a bed to sleep in.)
Guilt about what? What dread? Once again- we're literally inside Alina's head, and I have no clue what is she referring to. Unless she means her guilt about ruining Malyen's star career, feeling something for another man and enjoying the scraps of health she feels whenever she gets another dose of Morozova's instant gratification. Dread of facing the prospect of life without her manly appendage?
To be loved for who I was... horrid, mean nobody subjecting her life to a guy's wants and needs? That's what is this supposed to read as?
I'm sorry, Miss Bardugo, but no matter how hard you're gonna force your MC into the mould you picked, when writing this book, it won't fit, because the girl you're describing now wasn't present in the previous two.
Alina's upset again, so she sees the Darkling again.
But it's totally an accident!
Good girls have no agency or power over their ties to the Big Bad!
Whatever you need to tell yourself, sweetie...
