"NO I need that to get home!"
"Aha! See, still only thinking of yourself!"
"Youre wrong! Im not... That selfish?"
I love this small moment during the climax between Anne and Valeriana, where the old guardian latches unto the fact that Anne wants to go home as a proof of her being selfish, and Anne is just momentarily confused by of all the things she could be accused of that proves her selfishness, her preffered endgame is one of them.
It makes no sense from Anne's perspective.
But it makes perfect sense from Valeriana's perspective, and it foreshadows Anne's future quite nicely.
Anne's destiny, her great responsibility is to defeat Andrias, and free Amphibia from his Tyrrany.
Her running home instead of doing that, leaving Andrias to destroy Amphibia as he pleases, is the antithesis of that. A complete and total abandonment of her responsibility.
While the events that led up to it isn't quite as selfish on Anne's part as Valeriana suggested, the end result is the same.
Anne fails her duties, her responsibility, and in the end, is forced to escape back to Earth, leaving Andrias to do as he pleases with the land.
It's the ultimate failure of Anne Boonchuy.
We have been waiting for someone like you for such a long time.
I really think we should talk about how good marcy's snow outfit
really wish they showed it more in the episode
