Here's some background info for the bros!

Seeing how Hunk is older at the end of S8, I thought I'd update their ages to reflect that.

How Did the Bros Treat Hunk Growing Up?

The bros each did a fair share of bullying each other growing up, and Hunk was often the target of pranks since he was the youngest, but he was mostly safe from the bullying due to the fact that he spent a lot of time cooking with his Mama.

Tatsuo ❤

Brotherly love! Very similar in character!

When Hunk was growing up Tatsuo visited the home the most of all the older siblings, and  would often spent a lot of time with Hunk.

Hunk is very much like Tatsuo in character.

Tatsuo tried to imprint as much of his Dad’s legacy onto Hunk as possible, since he died while Hunk was young.

Is very much like a father figure to Hunk.

Kenta 💙

They didn’t spend a lot of time together while Hunk was growing up.

Hunk knows little of Kenta’s past transgressions.

Kenta was often the brother Hunk would find himself getting advice from when he was bullied.

Kenta taught Hunk how to defend himself and taught him a lot about self respect.

Hunk taught Kenta a lot about himself and controlling his anger.

They weren’t very close growing up since Hiroki was often out chasing tail.

They definitely spent time together and enjoy each other’s company.

Hiroki was always there to provide Hunk terrible dating advice.

Would like to be a better role model and have a better relationship with Hunk but doesn’t know where to start.

They actually began to bond later on in life, over their shared love of cars.

The weirdest bros.

For a certain part of Hunk’s life, Hajime wasn’t around.

When he came back around they spent so much time together.

Hajime sorta replaced the spot that Tatsuo left when he moved away and then some.

Hajime supported everything Hunk did, hung out with him, pushed him to do new things.

Hajime was literally the best brother to Hunk and that makes him really happy.

Each bros reaction to when they found out their Mama was pregnant with Hunk:

Tatsuo ❤ “Another kid? Is this the last one-- please tell me this is the last one Mama. Hajime just got stopped peeing the bed Mama...”

Kenta 💙 “I hope he’s gonna be shorter than me...”

Hiroki 💜 “A baby brother? Inside you?? Where’s he gonna go-- is he gonna take my room??? Do Haha and I have to share a bed? HejuststoppedpeeingthebedMama pleasedon’tmakeme.”

Because this is a pretty general ask, I’ve decided to make it a little more specific!

The Bros Favorite Meals (to make for themselves):

Tatsuo ❤ Steak Burgers with baked potato wedges and grilled asparagus. He rarely has the time to cook for himself, and when he does he always ends up sharing with his kids–but this meal he makes just for himself!

Kenta 💙 Since he loves breakfast foods his favorite thing to make is French toast casserole and smoked brisket.

Hiroki 💜 Omuraisu (Chicken fried rice omelet). Their dad always made them for breakfast growing up because he couldn’t really make anything else and Hiroki has always loved it. Plus, Hiroki’s had a lot of practice making eggs ifyouknowwhatImean. 😉

Hajime 💚 Because he’s a Southern boy™ he likes making himself skillet fried chicken (He’s not allowed to make it anymore because he always pours the grease down the sink and Kenta hates the smell) with steamed corn on the cob.

It all started back in October when, with the release of a new issue of the Voltron comic series, it was confirmed that Hunk had siblings of some sort, because he has a niece and nephew that he babysat. After some digging, it turns out that in an older series of Voltron (Defenders of the Universe) Hunk had 4 older brothers, of whom he was the smallest, so he was given the nickname Hunk ironically.

So, taking what we already knew about Hunk and smashing it together (with a few creative liberties, of course) Tiana decided to design and give life to these unknown older brothers.

And so, the Garrett Brothers au was born!

The bros from “Chillest” to “Ready to Fight”

Hunk - Hunk was the most peaceful of the bros growing up. Always ready to get in between a brothers quarrel and the first to try and calm down a situation. That doesn’t mean he didn’t know how to handle himself in a fight though. 

Tatsuo - As the biggest bro, Tatsuo was always the responsible one who was in charge of keeping everyone in line and stopping the fights. He’s still pretty immature though so he found himself in the occasional wrestling match with Kenta.

Hajime -  Hajime grew up to be a pretty scrappy, because before Hunk was born he was the smallest of the bros and was often the target of Kenta and Hiroki’s impromptu wrestling matches.

Hiroki - Has chilled out significantly since he was a kid, one would describe his anger as a perpetually overboiling pot, but now it’s more of a constant simmer. Back then him and Kenta fought on a daily basis.
