given her circumstances and personality, i think aqua is someone who feels like she shouldn’t selfishly and irresponsibly fall in love and commit to something she and the other person may not live through; this likewise would extend to any potential children ESPECIALLY bc of the burden her bloodline carries

i don’t dislike shigure, but i legitimately cannot justify his existence in any circumstance save for post revelations, well after everything has been settled in the aftermath of the end (but also i hate the child unit mechanic in general in fates and generally ignore it, so—)

that being said, my big stupid corn and aqua are effectively just queer platonic for the time being; they’re very close, but aqua gently rejects anything beyond casual/light intimacy (lbr it’s pretty much just cuddling)

even then aqua is absolutely the one holding the reins in the relationship; she lets corn get away with being tactile only bc she knows they’re like a big dog and don’t mean anything inappropriate by it - they just want to be close - but they stop doing anything aqua doesn’t seem to agree to, even if she doesn’t necessarily say anything about it
