Kim Hye-soo in The Face Reader | 관상 (2013)
In the tortured by Gihun's doppelgangers universe, Inho picks up a history book because surely that must be safe, right? Wrong. Because then he starts reading about assassination attempts on presidents and there's a picture of Pyong-ho right there. So he starts reading about the world wars and everything is fine until he reads about the Battle of Incheon and there's a Gihun looking guy right there too. So he goes farther back and starts reading about a "traitor" with six Japanese bullets and would you look at that? He looks like Gihun too! So he throws the book at the wall. But the worst comes when he goes down the bhjj rabbit hole, now that one hurts the most. Inho becomes a ljj stand because he likes to imagine that that's how Gihun would've looked like at different ages, even the ones he never got to be. He also curses Gihun's ancestors for getting around so much because seriously how many Gihun lookalikes are out there Gayeong in the flesh was bad enough for him and now all these men are making it worse!

ANON, YOU'RE A GENIUS!!! 💞💞🤧🤧🤧
when i was writing the reply to the other ask, i kept wondering how the hell to include the historical figures jj played but you just easily fixed that!! 🫶
now i need inho to go to an art museum or something, just to unwind since we know he's an art nerd, and see a painting of grand prince suyang and once again be horrified that gihun's face keeps popping up everywhere njdfvmnfjkdmfv
and him becoming an ljj stan omggggggggg your brain is so big!!! he'd love to see pics of jj when he was young and think of gihun at the age... how he was, who he hung out with, what he did. inho even imagines himself at the same age, becoming friends with gihun for some reason and never leaving each others' sides 🥹
Ray/Su-Yang 🥰
That’s the face of the love of my life. Next question!

Now watching The Face Reader. I'm binging something specific 😇
THE FACE READER
GENRES: Historical, Drama
SUMMARY: A traitor’s son and grandson try to make their ways in the world amid their talents, superstition, and a royal coup.
THIS MOVIE HAS EVERYTHING: Brushmaking, supportive uncles, malnutrition, giggling gisaengs, teen kings, face reading, prophecies, survival, tiger hunting, poison needles, and blindness.
HOT TAKE: TBH I thought that face-reading would have a much bigger impact on the plot considering the title of this movie. Yes, the face reading talent of the main character ignites the plot of the movie, but it was a simple mistake on his part in Act II that gave the rest of the cast freedom to take over the story.
What a great role for Lee Jung Jae, though. He really seems to have fun with a villainous character role and we love it just as much.
