tbh, even if they DID shift the responsibility from Lestat onto Amel, I don't know why that's such an offensive idea to some people?
It doesn't take anything away from Louis' victimhood in that moment, which is what these fans claim to be afraid of. The Drop happened, clearly. If it was gonna be retconned outright it would've been by now. Louis is still a victim! But of course some fans care more about labeling Lestat an evil abuser than they care about Louis' victimhood.
You hit the crux of the matter, nonny.
Because that is what it's all about: (Claudia and) Louis being the poor hapless victims of the big bad white abuser â„¢, who had to kill him to get free.
It ... hit home, for a lot of people. So much, that it eviscerated all reason.
I get it. The real world and its issues overshadow the tale there. I do get that. I know and understand where this comes from.
But it was never something that would hold, within the narrative.
And now, that particular, proverbial knife is about to be turned.
And it's gonna cut deep.
