The Deity (dredge) Stimboard!
Sunset Under the Atlas: Prologue
missus ellie, spare a crumb of the Deity, 🥺 please 🥺 🙏🙏
absolutely my love!!! <33
The Deity goes by many titles, but her most prominent role is the Overlord of the Holy Lands. She dictates angels, archangels, and other holy monsters who occupy the Holy Lands alongside her, as well as the procession of souls that ascend after death to be welcomed into the holy afterlife.
The ones who know her more personally and intimately call her Jhila, which was the name she bore before she was ascended to godhood, back when she was still a muse--a more humble type of divinity that offers entertainment for the gods and mortals alike. Since she has such humble origins, she was the best choice for the new Overlord of the Holy Lands after Chaos had razed the pantheons and killed her predecessors.
As for her personality, she's quite different to what people expect. Where some would anticipate the ruler over the holiest realm known to the world--the goddess who oversees heaven itself--to be demure and stoic, Jhila isn't that way at all. She's in fact very bubbly and friendly and has a great amount of compassion for everyone, even Chaos, which certainly stunned those in the Holy Lands when they initially met her as their new Overlord.
In truth, she feels quite a bit of guilt over the actions of her predecessors--primarily in their cruelty, and especially of their murder of Eden and eternal imprisonment of Chaos--and seeks to rewrite the future into a more loving, kindly one. And as much damage as many of them have done, she absolutely adores humans. When she was initially ascended to her position as Overlord, many remaining archangels from the ancient times tried to convince her to bar humans completely from entering the heavens, but it's because of her compassionate self that she instead decided to forgive many actions that were once considered sinful, so that more souls would be able to enter the heavens after death if they wished.
Jhila also has a much closer relationship to Lucifer, the new god of the Underworld, than her predecessor did with his. In fact, despite being complete opposites and their realms having been in many clashes over many eons prior, the two of them are very close friends and thoroughly enjoy playing chess and having tea on many occasions.
The roof in the chapel at MC is the closest place for you to engage with Jhila, as the beautiful clouds that gather at the ceiling of the chapel actually lead directly to the Holy Lands themselves! And though she may seem like far too busy of a goddess to bother with the trivial matters of individual mortals, she adores receiving visitors from the mortal plane and actually doesn't get very many--so you can expect that if you ever head up there, she'll be eager to fix you a cup of tea and hear all about your mortal exploits. Don't worry about Archangel Mikael--she can soothe him, or at the very least keep him at bay, so she can hopefully make friends with you. She'll play her lute, sing for you, listen to your woes, offer you comfort...her love is so all-encompassing it'll be difficult not to feel something akin to romance when dealing with the Deity. But lucky for you, once she gets to know you...she'll probably start feeling the same way ♡
I'm sorry @capturecharlesau but it wouldn't leave my brain.

"in the blackest night even, and just there, by the grace of God, I could see a Great Light. Somewhere there seems to be a great kindness in the abysmal darkness of the deity…; "
