The Conrad Indianapolis: A Review
I couldn't have been more excited for our stay at The Conrad Indianapolis this past weekend. After asking The Conrad to write a guest blog post, they graciously invited me for a weekend stay, and I must say, if they were trying to butter me up for a fabulous review, it worked!
When we checked in on Saturday afternoon there was a flurry of activity outside the hotel. Picture-toting teenagers were gathered at every entrance while security made sure no one jumped the velvet cordoned line. We had no idea what was going on, but the concierge told us that the New York Knicks were staying “in house.”
Neither Sarah nor myself could pick out a Knicks player from your grandmother walking down the street, but every time we exited the hotel everyone went into a tizzy thinking we were ‘somebody’. Getting the celebrity treatment only added to the Conrad experience, and to my ego.
Our room was on the 18th floor and had a spectacular view of the city. It was spacious and comfortable and a level higher than any other hotel I've stayed in in the city. The bathroom had a soaking tub and a shower, and you could adjust the shower head both vertically and horizontally. In fact, I read somewhere that sports teams like staying at the Conrad because the tall players like that the shower head actually adjusts to their height. I hope the Knicks enjoyed!
You don't have to be at The Conrad very long before you realize customer service is the name of the game. Everyone was more than helpful, and a spread of fresh fruit and snacks greeted us in our room. We indulged.
After settling in we headed to the spa. Well, the spa isn’t actually functioning, but the pool, steam room, sauna, and workout facilities were at our disposal. After sitting in the steam room for a spell, we lounged by the pool. Sarah caught up on her celebrity mags, while I played Scrabble on my iPad. It was the perfect relaxer in preparation for our evening plans.
That evening, we caught a movie and headed to Tastings, the Conrad's wine bar. The place was hoppin'! We ordered a few appetizers and sampled the juice. Despite the crowdedness, we were able to have a quiet evening just the two of us. Before long, we were ready to retire, and we came back to an elegantly turned down room. Just perfect.
Sunday morning we got up early, grabbed some coffee, and took a stroll around the city. We enjoyed a leisurely walk through deserted downtown.
Before we knew it, our 24 hours at The Conrad had come to a close. We checked out and headed home. We weren't even halfway home when I remembered I forgot my iPad in the room! We circled back, and believe it not, The Conrad had my iPad waiting at the front desk. Now that's service!
All in all, The Conrad sits above the other hotels in Indianapolis. It's sleek, modern, and comfortable. It's also in the heart of the city. You can walk anywhere downtown. I highly recommend The Conrad for your next stay.
