Day 123 of 365 by Neil Evans Via Flickr: The Cairo at 1615 Q St NW in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington DC. A fascinating building designed by architect Thomas Franlkin Schneider and completed in 1894. It is 12 floors tall, which was quite controversial back in 1894, eventually leading to the Height of Buildings Act of 1899, which still restricts the height of buildings in Washington DC. I think I will be back here for some more pictures at some point in this 365 project. There is plenty more of of "The Cairo" above the entryway pictured here. More info on The Cairo at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cairo
The Cairo is the tallest residential building in DC, and has a ton of history. Itβs a gorgeous old building, and this is where Bianca Brown resides in The Keeping of Words.
