The Brickyard: Where The Bar Saves You From A Bad Date

Not every date you go on will end on a high note. There will be dates that will not go as smoothly as you hope especially when it’s a blind date or someone you met on Tinder. You need not worry, the bartender has got your back.

Have you ever been stuck in a situation where you forgot to plan an exit strategy for a Tinder date that did not turn out as well as you had hoped? Or simply because they do not resemble their dating site display pictures?  You’ve been a victim of a catfish and you just want to get the hell out of there.

If you’re not too sure about your date tonight and you live in the U.K., I suggest you make your way to The Brickyard where the staff are trained to save you from a bad date.

Talk about customer service!

James Hanning, the owner of The Brickyard in St. Albans, England, has made it one of their policies to look out for their customers and their well-being. Which is why the put up a sign in the women’s bathroom informing them of their special services aside from pouring customers drinks and serving them good food.

The sign reads:

Tinder date gone wrong? Doesn’t look like his picture, or just plain weird? If you’re on a date and it’s not going well, come to the bar and ask for Rachelle or Jennifer and we’ll get you out of it and/or get you a taxi. Your safety and happiness is our highest priority. If anyone is bothering you or making you feel uncomfortable please tell us. We will discreetly move them away, and if necessary ask them to leave. The Brickyard is safe and fun, we want you to enjoy your time here. Talk to us and we’ll sort it out 🙂

The owner and the staff actually made this a discrete gesture to the ladies who are in a bit of an uncomfortable situation. But customers have posted pictures of the sign online and it has made a great impact as people find the idea brilliant.

Gradually, after receiving suggestions from customers to make the sign gender-neutral, the staff removed the pronoun “his” and replaced it with “their.” Also, they have put up the same sign inside the men’s restroom because men, too, can be caught in an uncomfortable situation.

This is actually a great help in promoting “dating safety” and for an establishment who sells booze and this is also a brilliant precautionary method. So, for anyone in the U.K. who has a Tinder date scheduled today or this weekend, invite them to The Brickyard for safety measures.
