I feel like I might have seen you mention this before, so I apologize if there's a list somewhere I've missed, but regarding magic/occult books, what authors do you think should be avoided or can't be trusted? Alternatively, are there any authors you absolutely adore and think more people should read?
I have grown and developed as a person since I was last asked this question, and now believe that something of worth can (usually) be drawn from pretty much any author. I did create a bulletpoint list of reasons that The House Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock sucked, but on the flip side of that, I actually found interesting things in that Green Witch's Garden book of hers. I'm even willing to extend a hand of grace back to Mat Auryn despite my original despisal of his book Psychic Witch. We're growing in 2024 and by the gods we'll develop and become our favorite versions of ourselves.
Having said that, Doreen Virtue (grifter, scam artist, allegedly runs a fake donation scam, turned around and denounced the very thing that made her famous) can suck an egg, Aleister Crowley is a bitch-ass motherfucker who isn't worthy enough to drink my piss, Gerald Gardner can fall down some stairs, and everyone involved in the New Age and Law of Attraction and Law of Assumption scams can go choke.
Thanks for sending in this ask! Remember, looking into an author and reading warily is the way to go!
