ok, story time:
I served today at the hut, and my favorite table of the night, BY FAR was this nice little elderly couple. They had been together for 46 years, 47 in October. And the old man was so excited to be telling me this, and his wife was like "Shh, dear, she doesn't care," with a smile, and I told them that I did care. I was just as excited as the old man.
Cuz that old man will be me. Just so excited that I still with the woman I love for 40+ years. I digress...
Anyway, he goes on how he met her when she was 15, and married her when she was 18, and how he was three years older than her. His smile, guys, it was infectious! And I told him "I hope I get to be with someone as long as they were together."
And somehow we got to talking how kids now-a-days talk, and he said "They're all little scutches."
And I got so happy, I asked them, "Are you from New York?"
And they laughed, "No, Hoboken." I told them it was close enough.
"My girlfriend lives in Long Island and says and calls me a scutch, and when I first heard it I was so confused!"
And we just had a nice little conversation on how he used to work for this big German guy that used call him Scutch-and-something-else, I can't remember, and his wife corrected him, and it just made me so happy, and made my night. And even if they thougt I meant girlfriend as in a friend that's a girl, or girlfriend, it's ok. Moral of the story, I saw myself as that old man, just super excited and delighted to be bragging about my wife, and loving her for 46-going-on-to-47 years. No matter what, that's gonna be me.

Going to spend my Sunday with my girl, her friends, and a city full of the LGBT community. I've been running low on my gay, so this will be a welcomed little day away from my norm.

So I'm sitting here
Watching Trish play Journey (ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BUT SADDEST GAMES I EVER DID PLAY!!!) and like I just sit back and smile. Cuz I honestly never thought I'd see the day I'd have a girlfriend over, with my parents completely in the loop and be totally fine with it. I would say it's the little things, but this is a big thing. It makes me beyond happy that she's here, that I can go to her house, and that getting to her wont take me all day, just 2-3 hours ish, if i time it right.
But seriously. This is an amazing feeling. Moments like this make all the waiting worth it.
So, tonight, we got ourselves a triple date with two buddies from work/old high school friends, at Ihop for midnight pancakes (and waffles, and crepes...) and just, I'm happy.
