My girls

The older I get, the more I realize what this gift means to me. When they were little, I was all they needed. I had every answer to every question. I could fix their toys or what was broken. I was their guy. The go to when they needed to.

And now, I hope I still am.

I learned what a dad was supposed to be by watching my own dad. His girls always needed him, no matter how old they got. But, the thing was, he needed them too. It was his job to be their dad. And he never retired from that.

I want to be that dad.

For non-Mormon context, the LDS church was founded by a dude named Joseph Smith. many people who leave the religion see him as being the charismatic leader of a cult. He was also, purportedly, a womanizer posing as a polygamist for the lord (some historians argue that he did it out of religious obligation and not because he wanted to, but there are probably some things we’ll never know about Joseph Smith tbh).
