The point isn't that it's her responsibility to learn everything before deciding not to help him, though - it's that if she's going to decide not to help him without knowing everything, then she needs to actually step out of the conversation, not keep seeking out arguments in which to confidently assert her assessment of the situation all while insisting she doesn't want to know more.
See, the thing is--I am not really sure she does that!

Georgie comes to get Melanie because Melanie is nervous going alone. Jon instantly Learns something personal that Georgie explicitly says itās not her place to share.
Oh, um. Didnāt mean to, you know. These doors are not that thick.

(fast) Iām sorry to hear that. You should probably get some therapy too.
She asks if heās okay, is worried heās not, and is like āIām sorry, you should get therapyā (expressing sympathy, and also saying something that is really common to someone who needs help that you canāt personally give.) She says she wonāt go with him (boundary) but clearly wishes him well.
...I feel like in her conversations with Martin she says some judgmental things that I donāt agree with but like--Iāll have to be honest. It is way, way softer than what I normally hear people say about their exes. And also in MAG 149--

Martin asks her to explain her reasoning for not talking to Jon anymore. She doesnāt just offer it freely.
But see-- this is all-- difficult for me to analyze because it is a matter of reading tone/implication. I think a lot of whether you read Georgie as judgmental and seeking arguments or as uncertain -- not knowing what to say when she tries to find Melanie and the topic comes up -- is about Personal Interpretation. How do you read her tone? What connotations do you have for the words she uses?
I donāt read her as that judgmental or argumentative! But this is likely because I am used to people who are much more blunt and aggressive.
