The Opportunity was a Mars rover whose mission was declared over recently. It was launched July 7 2003 in hopes of it traveling all the way to mars and transmitting information it collected on Mars. The original mission was planes to last 90 days but it lasted close to 15 years. It collected information about the terain and weather conditions and it was the one to discover water on Mars. In June a devastating dust storm covered the entirety of Mars made it impossible to make contact with nasa. NASA could not regain contact with the Opportunity, or Oppy for short, and eventually gave up. Oppy’s mission was declared complete after its final transmission being “My battery is low, and it’s getting dark...”
