I'm guessing it was Thranduil himself who gave his sons their first sexual partners when they came of age, with Gwend's permission of course. Is this considered headcanon? I'm hoping it is so.
He certainly tried to point them all in the right direction,with Gwend’s help. But it’s the old adage of you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. He could certainly push them towards partners who would be receptive to them, but he couldn’t and wouldn’t force anyone to do anything they didn’t want to. Both his sons and their partners. The older sons all have very different approaches to romance.Â
Legolas, as the Prince and heir, has certain standards he’s expected to follow. It’s trickier for him as he can never be certain if an elleth sees him for himself or just his title. And that’s if he can find one who isn’t all googly-eyed over his father. He takes his time and it’s served him quite well thus far. He’s had a few and they’ve all parted company amicably.
Thangonnas is the horse that won’t stop drinking. He has all of Thranduil’s charm and magnetism, not to mention the sex drive, and it’s serving him quite well at the moment. That doesn’t mean it won’t come back to bite him in the ass.
Feredir likes to follow the same standards as Legolas. He’s cautious, slow-paced and does everything properly. His sexual encounters are limited to say the least though, due to Thangonnas’ interference.

Headcanons on Gwend, Thangonnas and Inarielđź’•đź’•?
Gwend:Now this one will come up later in the story. Gwend, Thranduil’s most beloved lady, is the subject of a song, an epic love song, sparked by Thranduil’s pining for her on the march to war at the end of the Second Age. She has no idea.
Thangonnas:He once got an underage Feredir very, very drunk and his parents have never let him forget it. It’s why he is rarely left in sole charge of his siblings.
Inariel:Before she joined the harem, she was the main provider for her family. Her father was badly wounded in war and her sisters were awaiting the return of their beloveds from war. This meant the responsibility fell to Inariel. After she joined Thranduil’s harem, she felt so wracked with guilt, she sold many of the gifts he gave her to send home to support her father. Thranduil found out and has since started sending an allowance to her father to support him without Inariel having to sacrifice his gifts.
