Vodka is the most popular liquor for cocktails. The name vodka comes from the Slavic word voda, meaning water. It is a versatile spirit, included in many classic cocktails like a Martini, Moscow Mule, and a Screwdriver.

Yet, despite the fact that most everyone has tried vodka and used it in many cocktails, there are a lot of things we don’t know about it.

Here are six facts about vodka you never knew:

A teaspoon of sugar with a few drops of vodka helps keep flowers fresher longer.

Vodka is lighter than water. 1 liter of water weights 1,000 grams, while 1 liter of vodka weighs 953 grams.

The most expensive vodka in the world, Billionaire Vodka, costs $3.75 million a bottle. It’s filtered though ice, Nordic birch charcoal and sand made from crushed diamonds and gems.

Vodka soothes a jellyfish sting. It helps disinfect the wound and alleviate some of the pain.

Ripping off a Band-Aid is a lot easier when it is soaked in vodka! The vodka helps dissolve the adhesive.

We haven’t tried this ourselves, but adding vodka to your shampoo is supposed to make your hair healthier and shinier.

I’m the one who introduces the guests into the Thai culture. Together with my colleague Seppe, I welcome the guests in our beautiful restaurant and provide them a place with a really nice view. The goal as a waiter is to make as many guests happy with the visit to our restaurant. The service is one of the most important things in a restaurant. When the guests have decided what they want to drink, I tell them something about our delicious dishes. I tell the kitchen which dishes must be prepared. A restaurant runs good just as there is a good rapport between the kitchen and waiters. When the waiters give the customers the Thai food, it’s important to mention the main - ingredients.

Chicken Jalfrezi:

Did you know that people who eat this Thai dish often use ice cream, yoghurt or just cream to cool down the heat? Because this is a dish with very hot curry sauce and as you can see they also use peppers in this dish to even up the heat, so beaware when you eat this. You should always have some cream when you are going to try this delicious dish. 

Job:

My job in the restaurant is to let the people know that they are welcome on our ship/restaurant by hosting them when they are coming on board. I am also a waiter so I go and ask the people what they want to eat or drink and of course I am also the one who give them the food and tell them a bit about the origin of the food so the people know what they are going to eat.
