Okay, okay, okay... Listen. *inhales deeply*
I literally just finished my wifey's @nevilles-top most incredible first part of her story "The Girl Who Vanished" and I need to get some things out there.
This. Was. The. Best. Golden Era. Fic. Ever.
Ever ever. Like totally ever. I loved every single word of it and I'm not exaggerating. Why? Glad you're asking:
The style of writing is better than some things I've seen from actual published authors; seriously. No word is misplaced and it reads so smoothly and consistently. I'll admit, there are more than a few expressions I nicked for myself. Sorry, not sorry.
The way the scenes are set is amazing. The atmosphere is palpable in every scene and I can picture every location very clearly in front of my inner eye while reading. The perfect combination of descriptive elements and sensations to make room for the plot to unfold.
Ah yes, the plot. I loved the plot; obviously, duh. It isn't only super complex, setting things up early on that get important in later chapters, which show just how well thought out this story is, but most important, there wasn't a single thing that I felt was forced for plot reasons. All things mould together flawlessly. What I love most though, is the way it ties in with the plot of the actual Harry Potter books without getting overwhelmed by it. The canon plot does happen on the sidelines but only drives the story to a small degree, just enough to make you smile at a known event while reading. It's lovely.
And last but absolutely not least, the characters and their relationships. Ana's friends are easily the best og side characters ever. Ugh, I love them. Everyone of them is so unique and it was heartwarming to watch their relationships unfold. It's one of the strongest points how real the development felt, especially when they would sometimes bounce back to sides we only saw in the beginning. The same goes for the twins; the way the feelings between everyone changed gradually was done so subtly, it never felt forced or driven for plot reasons and that is so hard to achieve. The characterisations are amazing in general, my skin is still crawling at the thought of Lucius and whenever Snape appears, I can basically see him swooshing past me.
Are there any negative things, you might ask, or is this just me rambling about one of my best friend's story? Well, the only negative thing I can find here is that it's over now. That sucks.
...
What is that? Can you repeat that?
There is a Book 2 of The Girl Who Vanished????
Well, seems like there isn't any single negative thing to it at all then.

I'm so proud of you, wifey, your talent never ceases to blow my mind. Please never stop your amazing work, it literally brightens my day.
TLDR: If you have the slightest bit of love for either Fred Weasley, the Golden Era or would even want to see an adorable version of Draco Malfoy, YOU NEED TO READ THIS WHY AREN'T YOU READING YET.

IMTY for the fix asks
Hi wifey đź’š
I:Â Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?
I absolutely adore enemies-to-lovers because of the angst that is built into them story innately. It’s so fun to write. Unrequited and denied love builds tension so well.
M: Got any premises on the back burner that you’d care to share?
The reason for the title of my story will be revealed soon.
T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?
Not a fandom trope, but a fanfic trope. I cannot stand surprise!preg kind of stories because I feel like it’s typically unnecessary and only used as a way to further plot instead of good story building. It’s mainly the surprise! Element that throws me off.
Y:Â A character you want to protect.
Lucian. Mainly because I have such an undeniable urge to kill him. I don’t know why. But it’s there.
Thank you for the questions @kc-needs-coffee
me: only having written up to ana’s fourth year
also me: wanting to write her sixth year instead
