Since I see so many on this app (too many) that question why they should live, let me retell a short story from a book series I once read.
A boy, around 11 years of age, once asked this question to the god he looked up to the most. And let me first tell you of this boy. This poor boy, thrown out of his house and told he would bring calamity to those he loved. This poor boy, with no friends and as skinny as a twig. This poor boy, who had no one in this world but this god in his heart, a god he believed in.
And one miserable night, he asked this god "What should I live for in this world? What does it mean to live?" He did not expect an answer, and the remaining silence only proved his loneliness.
But then came a voice, as gentle as a flower, but also as sharp and bold as a sword. And the voice said, "If you do not know how to live on anymore, then live for me." That beautiful voice came from the boy's god. Although he could not see the god, the boy understood its presence and believed with his heart full once more. The god repeated, "I have no answer to the question you asked. However, if you do not know the meaning of your life, then make me that meaning, and use me as your reason to live."
The boy could not believe the god would pay attention to such an insignificant being such as himself, but the god was always there supporting him. Even if the boy didn't know, the god always appreciated him for who he was and not just what he could offer to this world. The god wanted the boy to know that and finally spoke, "Thank you for the flower! It's beautiful-I like it very much!"
This is not a story to get you to accept a god, as it may seem (although if you do believe in a god, I can be read this way) but a story to show you that there are people you may not see who still love you. Those who appreciate all that you do, no matter what situation you are in. No matter if that is family, lost friends, people on the internet, your own pets, or even the someone you may consider a stranger.
Please, no matter what situation you are in, things can improve. YOU deserve to live. YOU deserve another chance. YOU deserve to be happy and celebrate who you are.
I love and believe in you
