Every time I think about Disenchanted I just find even more reasons to be angry about the movie,
Oh you totally get me!
Just off the top, are the main reasons why Disenchanted was a huge disappointment:
-Morgan, obviously had wasted potential but was just written as a 2000s angsty and moody teenaged stereotype. She basically acted like Darcy Lewis in the first two Thor movies. The movie’s plot was also very mean spirited to her, just to make Giselle more empathetic. (having nearly all of her clothes burnt up in act 1 because of a faulty light switch, avoiding all of that in my rewrite and being abused by Giselle’s stepmother persona are to name some)
-Sofie, who was also wasted potential due to being a literal infant who’s told she’s a “true Andalasian” but we’re literally shown nothing that proves it, and spoilers she did nothing throughout the whole film as living plot device.
-Robert, who was sidelined hard and was given a cliche mid life crisis and was written as an Edward Clone.
-Giselle, was a huge disappointment who seemingly regressed from her emotionally mature character development in the first film back to the obtuse and cheerful girl from a fairytale world and treated like a Main Character Syndrome Writer’s Pet. Reminder she and Robert were being terrible parents to both Morgan and Sofia
-Also Andalasia’s worldbuilding in the sequel was mid, they had the cliche overused and unorginaly wish granting wand, we don’t know f all what caused the strain in Morgan and Giselle’s relationship, and no cliche tropes were subverted at all
This whole answer technically acts as my checklist on what to rewrite in The fairytale of my life.
