suttonâs had one too many close encounters with judgmental upper east siders while sheâs resided here for the short time she has been while living with her aunt, whoâs a teacher at constance. the most recent one and absolute encounter happened when she entered a, of course, high end boutique with her aunt by her side to check out some emerald or quartz or whatever kind of earrings. sutton didnât know what the heck they were, but she was always along for a ride. an employee immediately told sutton to exit. sutton didnât bother asking why in the hell she had to do such a thing. the way the employee eyed her combat boots and ripped jeans was enough of an answer. the last straw has put her in a weird mood, a mood that made her despise everything manhattan had to offer, and yet a mood that made her want to fit in more than ever before, which is why she attended trippâs party and why she will be attending the fairchild ball. sheâll eventually figure out what it is she wants, or at least add some balance and stop caring what others think so damn much.
oddly enough, school was where she felt most comfortable because, hey, youâre pretty much wearing the same shit as everyone else. it wasnt the easiest to blend, but it wasnât as hard as it was walking down the street in broad daylight without the newest $300 pair of Tory Burch ballet flats. so anyways, when it comes to school, she does wander a bit and sit with different people and sometimes has the guts to ask âhey, whatâs upâ or âwhy the long faceâ-- things that would qualify you for prying, which is most definitely what sheâs been up to.
this includes walking around the football field... a little too often someone might say if they noticed how sutton would pace back and forth almost daily while the boys were practicing. it was the closest thing to entertainment since she enjoyed watching sports as much as the next, er, not manhattanite, but also jake hunter, easily the greatest player out there, was... even more interesting to watch. attending his games became a routine and soon they were becoming greater friends. one game, sitting pretty close to the field in the bleachers, she saw the way his teammate sam tackled jake to the ground. the whole situation was enraging and suspicious enough to make her jump up in the stands and scream, âThat kids needs some serious eye glasses! Heâs on YOUR TEAM!â. sutton ended up heading to the hospital with jake to keep him company. what? hospitals are creepy.
