in the first two (2) episodes of Earthspark, during the storming of Dr. Meridian's base to free Twitch and Thrash, the Decepticon's optics/optical bands are white.

after the fight, Hardtop's band is yellow again. Skullcruncher's optics are white, but when we see him when they're driving thru the prision in "Decoy", his optics are red.

the same for the insecticon that i can't remember the name of.

so like.

obviously it's some sort of mind control/override going on, especially when Hardtop goes "I don't know what happened, i'd never fight you" to Megatron.
