Are you still playing the drabble game? If so, 68 Cor, please?
Thank you for requesting! Fun fact Iâve never written for Cor before so this might be genuinely terrible
68. âAre you⌠hiding?â
Attending formal events isnât exactly your thing; the endless hours of standing in a stuffy room, making small talk with strangers despite having nothing in common at all, being expected to wear largely uncomfortable clothes in order to appear presentable.Â
So therefore, the fact that youâre here now, in a stuffy room, making small talk with strangers you have absolutely nothing in common with, while wearing uncomfortable clothes, is definitely having a bit of a negative influence on your mood. Itâs all just too overwhelming; too much to deal with. In all honesty, had you not been obligated to stay here by your parents, you would have made a hasty departure thirty minutes into the party. That being said, itâs not like they decided you were not allowed to slip off and be alone for a few minutes, did they?
Excusing yourself from your current meaningless conversation with a charming smile and terrifically polite apologies, you make your way towards a largely desolate portion of the room and stand close to the windows. Praying that no one will approach, you take a moment to breathe and recollect yourself; next time, youâre definitely going to dig your heels in a bit more when it comes to attending events such as these ones. Who cares if the Lucian king is also attending; itâs not like youâre going to end up speaking to him or anything.Â
Itâs then that you see one of your parents making their way towards you, a disapproving expression adorning their features and making fear rise within. Thankfully, they get pulled into a conversation and you take that time to slip behind the floor length curtains that cover the windows in the luxurious room. A sigh of relief falls from your lips as you begin to feel as if youâve gotten away with it. That is, until someone else pulls back the curtain and steps into the low light.Â
âPlease donât tell my parents Iâm hereââ You blurt out the moment they turn to face you, a cool yet mildly confused expression on their face. Almost immediately, you realise that this is Cor Leonisâor, rather, Cor the Immortal.Â
âWho are you, and why are you back here?â He asks, ignoring your initial pleas.Â
Sheepishly, you open your mouth to respond. âY/N. And Iâm sort of avoiding everyone out there?â
âBasically, yes.â At the unamused expression on the manâs face, you feel heat creeping up your neck and warming your cheeks as embarrassment washes over you. âI just, really really hate things like this? But Iâm not allowed to leave because my parents expect me to stay here and itâs just so boring.â You arenât quite sure why you seem to ramble all of this explanation to Cor, but by the way his eyes seem to soften, it appears to have been the right choice.Â
âI guess, maybe, since Iâm only stationed here as a guard for tonight and Iâm not the only one, you could spend time with me?â He seems unsure even as he says it, as if having you come along and just stand with him while he makes sure the king comes to no harm will have a detrimental effect on his performance. âIf thatâs a better alternative to whatever else you would be doing.â
Eager to accept his offer and not have to be affronted with the tiresome details of this event, you respond rather quickly. âIâd actually love thatâif itâs okay.â
The assuring tone that is held within his tone as he speaks is calming. âYes. Itâs fine, come right this way, then, Y/N.âÂ
