Chemist lore drop:
Chemist doesn’t experience romantic love (he’s aromantic) but he does experience familial affection. All living relatives of him have died, he was closest to his grandfather. It’s from him that he picked up calling people “boy.”
Although Chemist is emotionally unavailable and chooses not to be as “present” with his hatchlings, he does love his chicks and deliberately keeps his distance to encourage their independence.
Chemist is deeply uncomfortable with emotional closeness and trusts only Nuke. He’s wary of Aster and even of his own children, keeping everyone at arm’s length. Because he teaches his hatchlings his own brand of street smarts (which includes manipulation) he refuses to fully trust them. He knows how easily those skills can be turned back on him, and he won’t risk becoming a target himself.
The case with Nuke is based on shared trauma from The Experiments. He knows that he doesn’t have to “sleep with one eye open” around Nuke (but does anyway out of habit).
Chemist doesn’t want to play a dad role and prefers to just keep camaraderie with his chicks. He can be protective of their physical and emotional well-being but all-in-all remains detached as a way to “parent.”

Translation: I like neon. My suit and mask are green. My eyes/lenses and hair are pink. When I get pissed or interested my lenses do the same shit Big Bird’s does, but it’s a neonish purple instead. The hose on my mask, gloves, and boots are all black. The straps on my boots and thigh are neon pink. And the infected wounds on my chest are black also.
Chemist is aromantic but pansexual. As long as you can carry his clutch without dying, he’ll fuck you. You won’t be worth anything to him, however, so keep that in mind. You’d just be a hole unfortunately.
He doesn’t even do friendships. His relationship with Aster is extremely complicated as well. He doesn’t truly trust anyone aside from Nuke (his proxy). Chemist hates closeness of any kind because of his imprisonment and torture during The Experiments.
