it wasn't until I watched the long walk and then went online and saw all the discourse people were having about it and all the people not understanding why you'd do the long walk/how unrealistic the walk is/how "dumb" the characters are, that I realized how bad the media literacy crisis is right now. like people out here smugly posting the stupidest takes and going "checkmate liberals. this movie is BAD."
"why would you wear (type of shoe)? why would you wear jeans? it's impractical!" maybe it's all the boys had. "why would you make friends?" we're humans, it's what we do. "pete and ray aren't gay, not every male friendship is gay!" ok you just haven't read the book. I could go on and on.
whatever happened to suspension of disbelief? you can watch one William other dystopia movies and grant them suspension of disbelief, but not this one? why not?
