Well, we stopped at a big used bookstore that weve never been to and found this baby. Only 5$ too which was great.
Gotta get a protective jacket on it before using. They had a copy with a jacket but it was 20$...

Texas Superstitions - Lucky Bone/Stone & Fish Folklore
“In Texas some people carry a small bone from a fish’s head as a charm against evil. This charm is most effective after it has been lost” (Hendricks 5).
This superstition comes from Lubbock, TX, but is echoed by another superstition from Fort Worth, TX: “Two little bones, found in the head of a certain fish, are called lucky stones; but the good luck comes only after they are lost” (Bergen 57). What is the fish bone referenced?
I feel bad for my husband, my xmas list this year is filled with hard to find/rare Texas folklore books.
who wants to plan a heist with me to break into the Texas Folklore Society and grab as many books as we can? Im just kidding plz don’t ban me texas folklore society i want to be a member
Took the day off for a dr appt, but now I have the rest of the day to enjoy. Gonna spend some time today reading on Texas Folklore!
Maybe a part 2 of superstitions will come out?
The Loblolly Book is great, has some hilarious home remedies.
"Garlic keeps the ghouls away." Knox City, TX.

Reading a bit of "Mirrors, Mice, & Mustaches," and came across this:
"If you want to kill evil, find a four-leaf clover and a black widow spider. Take a straight pin and put it through the center of the clover leaf and the head of the spider. When the spider dies, so will the present evil die. You cannot kill all evil at one time, but you can kill the evil that is present as a certain time." Richardson, TX.
This is interesting to me. You could take this and do a lot of things with it. Although, I do not want to have to fux with a black widow spider, im sure you could use something else as a substitute? Hmm. Need to add this to the list of experiments.
Watching Speedys vlog and omgg Bryan telling them about DJ Screw, lean, and chop and screw lololol
Saw your post about El paso! 😃 and as a native El pasoan I can confirm we are not humid all year long until you get to the Humid Months™️ which is our monsoon season but in reality the highest we get is 50% humidity at most but for us who only know El paso all our life, that's very humid to us, were used to our dry desert triple digit weather and we act like babies during those months while everyone who comes from outside el paso is looking at us like we're crazy because our humidity is nothing compared to so many other places. But when we have our dry dusty tumbleweed 113 degree day were like "Ah a breath of fresh air 😃" and everyone else is dying. (I say that with recent certainty too as we just had two weeks of dust storms which left us (El paso), all the counties, Juarez, and New Mexico, in like 1% visibility and so many people who had just moved here or were visiting were like "Is it always like this????" Which yeah during these months it is 😅)
(also just wanted to appreciate all the love on that post for El paso because this is one of the very characters that come from El paso and once again I've been seeing a lot of bad talk and/or vaguely racists
♥️♥️♥️ thank you for this additional El Paso lore! I lived with a girl from El Paso and have soooo much love for the people that city produces bc she was just incredible. I was built to love Eddie but having him from El Paso just makes him so much more loveable.
I lived in SETX for 15 years so my eye twitches when people argue that anywhere West of Brenham is humid, you know? Like I HAVE LIVED IN SOUP YOU CANNOT EVEN IMAGINE. Mr. Face just finished a trip back to that part of the world and even he was like … “omg, it’s so humid. I forgot how humid it is. I’m not built for it anymore.” Truly another planet, and it’s not even April yet.
I do actually think the culprit of the El Paso is humid misinformation might be the Lone Star/OG crossover, which actually I never watched. I think I saw a gifset from that where Buck says, “It’s so humid,” and Eddie says, “Welcome to Texas,” which is just. So. *screams* I also lived near the panhandle. Like. ALL OF TEXAS IS NOT THE SAME. I could go on, but I’ll stop.
Damn I heard the dust got to Dallas but I didn’t realize y’all got those storms often! See? Even I have things to learn about Texas.
If anyone is wondering, my Peak Texan Moment was having a tumbleweed roll across my snowcovered lawn back in college.
