the only kit of squallscreech's first litter, ternpaw was born as tom as fogpaw. growing up she always felt different from her peers, and at first assumed she was meant to become a healer. apprenticed under maggotbreath, she travelled to the mooncrag and met their rival clan's healer, sliversplinter, and realized she wanted to be like her. 

from then on she went by ternpaw. the clan had mixed feelings on her coming out, generally a generational divide on the matter, and this upset her. she had periods of depression, and often indulged in eating catnip to ignore her feelings. her father and crescentpaw were good support systems during this time. 

eventually she got out of this funk after being invited by copperpaw and honeysucklepaw to help host a apprentice event known as the rendezvous. cats there were generally kinder to her. she managed to grow close with ravenpaw, the heir from her own clan, and took an interest in both her and her long-time friend crescentpaw. 

recently, when travelling to the mooncrag with her mentor, maggotbreath, he got severely sick after receiving his visions. cascadeclan wouldn't help her out, and so ternpaw tried her best to care for maggotbreath and nurse him back to health. on one, horrible day, she tried her best to help deliver bumblesnag's kits, but her inexperience resulted in two of them dying, and maggotbreath not long after. it heavily hurt her confidence, but she didn’t confide about this to most of her close ones. she’s supposed to be the “cheery” one.

following his death, she had to step up as full healer, becoming ternflight.

starclan often harassed ternflight about her involvement with ravenpaw, saying it’d bring bad things. 

Her father, squallscreech, announced he and cavestrider were having kits, and she was happy about the matter,
