TERMINATOR_ DARK FATE - 5 Minute IMAX EXCLUSIVE TRAILER
Movie Review 214 - 11/27/18
Terminator 5 - Genisys
Hi, Welcome to Richard’s Reviews.
Today's review is Terminator 5 - Genisys. This would be a reboot to the original movie as it retells the story of time travel that occurs. Now that the time line has changed or possibly is a different path in the timeline. We find that Arnold was inserted into a different timeline to protect Sarah Conner. This all translates to an older Arnold, and a different timeline to watch.
The Good - A different look at what the past, present, and future would be like with the changed time line. A reboot but not of sorts?
The Bad - Too much empowerment with the idea of time travel. There is a lot of idea of what to change that may occur. A new enemy and period that affects it. Who knows if they would have done good or bad.
The Ugly - They kill off the terminators easily in this movie. Things become predictable. They do not deviate from the main path, but what they do will be really predictable. They find a new problem and will go fix it. I do think the way they kill the liquid terminator was pretty cheasy.
What you get - This is the Blu Ray, DVD Combo with Digital Copy. There is a slip cover with an image of a lot of the big names. The back shows a lot of small action scenes, and the terminator with Sarah. The inside includes the disk and the digital code. Nothing special.
Rating - 3.5 Stars out of 5
Check the movie out. It is a good take on a different timeline. It's not to say that the past timeline wasn't messed up by this but they decide to continue the timeline in a more adventurous sense. The CGI is quite good, not overly used until they need it.
I enjoyed this movie. I like the older Arnold, and the one liners. I miss those. They weren't as cheesy, but try to make sense of the older Arnold. This movie does theme a fatherly figure alot. Between John Conner, and his subordinate. The terminator and Sarah. Liquid Terminator only get a reboot, and short scene. They under utilize some characters, but keep the movie short in that sense. I hear there is another movie coming. Don't know if Arnold will be in it. I can only hope.

Terminator 5: Genisys (2015)
The timeline is becoming fractured as multiple journeys into the past distort all aspects of Sarah Connor’s life.
It was good to see Schwarzenegger back again for this film because it really didn’t work very well without him in the fourth one. He’s a bit older now so his action scenes are a bit more limited but the supporting characters and decent balance between the CGI and practical effects and stunts make it reasonably good.
I wasn’t keen on the actor playing John Connor because he didn’t appear to have much emotion and his general attitude made him a bit unlikable which isn’t desirable in a character who is supposed to be the saviour of the world. Matt Smith was in it though which more than made up for it although I felt that he could have had a lot more screen time.
Most films like this are expected to be non-stop action but fortunately they resisted this temptation and had a couple of scenes where the characters get to actually talk and develop a bit. I found it incredibly ironic that as soon as former Doctor Who (1963-Present) actor Matt Smith got involved in the franchise, the narrative just lost all control over the amount of time travel being used and now that the Terminators can convert living people into machines, they are basically just Cybermen now.
When I say that the time travel is out of control in this film I really mean it. There are people and Terminators jumping back all over the place (or time as it may be), constantly adding more of them and trying to incorporate the journeys of all the past movies as well. It really does get very confusing although I expected as much as soon as I saw the first film because things always get more complicated when you add time travel. Basically the good and bad sides both have time machines so they’re trying to out-do each other by jumping that little bit further in time to prevent the last attack or avert the last victory.
5/10 -Can’t find a better example of average-
-This is the third film in which Schwarzenegger plays two identical characters that come face to face. The other two are Last Action Hero (1993) and The 6th Day (2000).
-This is the only film in the franchise so far where the Terminators are referred to simply as ‘cyborgs’ rather than ‘cybernetic organisms’.
-It is felt that self-aware robots are so close to reality that Stephen Hawking has warned against the threat they could pose to humanity and the UN has banned any so-called constructions of ‘killer robots’.
