I CANT BELIVE HOW WRONG YOU ARE ABOUT DIRK'S SEXUALITY, but I have to ask... Why are you so set on him not being gay??? Do you not think he lives up to a gay stereotype properly?? And that someone as masculine as dirk could never be the full homo???? Hmm??? Please explain bc I can't grasp why you're spreading your misinformation so.
Wow, you have the opposite of the correct mindset when approaching this. Stereotypes arenât my thing. Also, can I just take a moment to address the word stereotype? Thatâs a weird word. Like, are we talking radios? No, weâre talking sexuality, or skin tone. Itâs bizarre. ANYWHORE, the thing that Iâm trying to say here, is that Dirk explicitly stated that he doesnât like the term gay. Now, take that as you will. He was interested in Jake as a romantic partner and did not show any interest in either of the female characters at the time, Jane or Roxy. However, at the time, he knew 3 people, and was only romantically interested in one of them. When Roxy agreed not to use the term âgayâ she asked if she was far off, and he said he didnât want to define it.
Letâs say this: up until recently, all of my romantic partners were female. I was in heterosexual relationships for years, but the past 2 years, I dated a man. Based on my history, you could assume that I was straight, but it is now clear to me that that is not accurate. I now identify as pansexual, although I donât necessarily like the way that the description of such works. I donât think that fully describes me, so maybe I should just not describe my sexuality. We can see, from Dirkâs history, that he has dated one male and was not interested in the other females that he knew. Does that mean that he is 100% pure homosexual? No. It could be inferred, but it not accurate. He could be any number of things. He is also kind of a jerk, as you know, and makes excuses. Maybe it wasnât that the girls âwerenât options,â and he just wasnât interested in them. He still loves Roxy, just not in that way. Doesnât mean much tbh. Rose is dating Kanaya, but that doesnât mean she is a lesbian. Go figure.
What Iâm trying to say is, people will take one look at something and go âthatâs it, thatâs how it is, we see it happening, there is no alternative, itâs done,â and that is not the way we should go about things. You have to sit and analyze. Dirk doesnât want to labelled as gay, so do not call him gay. Do not depict him as a gay stereotype, do not write him like some deep yaoi protag when that is not what he is. Dirk is Dirk. He dated a guy, whom he pressured into the relationship in the first place, and is no longer interested in searching for a romantic partner, and people just need to calm the fuck down.
