21. Love Magic

Your boyfriend knows humans aren’t as... shall we say, liberated as satyrs. He’s trying so hard to be respectful. So hard, in fact, he convinces himself that all of the not-so-subtle hints you’ve been dropping are innocent miscommunications. His brothers gave you a solution though.

“Ask him to imbibe with you,” they said, “and slip him this. A love potion,” they said, grinning.

You probably won’t listen to them anymore, but you aren’t complaining.

He initially saw you picking up trash that the peers you were on a walk with casually tossed onto the forest floor. Of course, he was thankful for you but in the grand scheme of things, he thought nothing of it. At best you were just doing the right thing. It’s not like you deserved praise for that.

What you didn’t know was that your peers were dared to take you into the forest and ditch you. When you did figure it out after waiting for an hour while they ‘when to go take a piss’ it was already too late. It was getting dark out and the forest you were in was notorious for being easy to get lost inside, your case was no exception to that. Giorno watched as you sat down on a fallen log and began to think about your next move. Gazing upon you from his spot in the trees, he couldn’t help but liken you to a baby deer that had been separated from its mother. He could even argue that in those situations it would be common for him to help lead the deer back, so why should he not help you? Of course it was common courtesy for you to respect his space, but you did seem like a polite guest so far and you were in a bind- he would be a bad host not to extend you a helping hand... Just this once of course.

Twisting a dead leaf between his fingers, he brought it to his lips and blew gently. Bits of leaf cascaded through the air and as they drifted, they began to animate one by one becoming little fireflies. You were startled to say the least when a bug landed directly on your face, but shock turned to awe as you saw a line of little bright dots down one of the paths through the trees. Sure, You might be going crazy, but at that point you didn’t think you had any other plans and decided it might be best just to trust the bugs. They sure seemed to know what they were doing.

Somehow this seemed like the right choice as you soon saw the glow of the city through an opening of the forest and as you took one last glance your eyes widened, seeing a golden figure emitting a soft glow watching you from the distance. Maybe you saw it? You couldn’t be sure, as it was gone before you could even register it. Dumbly, you cupped your hands to your mouth and shouted a loud “Thank you.”

Just in case.

After getting home safely that day, you began to make walks through the forest a regular occurrence for yourself and Giorno would often find himself drawn to you, watching your journey through his home. Sometimes you would go around picking up litter with a certain bravado to your step, other times you would explore or just laze around a clearing you seemed to like, some days you would even take the occasional nap. He had to admit, being alone all the time could be suffocating and he really was growing fond of your presence.

It was almost as if you belonged there. You were made to be in his forest. It wasn’t right for you to be corrupted by the pollution of the city. It really was best for you to be somewhere in his sights just like all the other creatures he ruled over. Somewhere he could protect you. It was for a good cause when he lured you deeper and deeper into the forest with those signature fireflies. He wrapped you up in trailing vines with the best intentions. It would only be until you realized this was for the best.
