Last night, I performed my first radio spot for WDVX's Tennessee Shines, live on stage at the Knoxville Visitors Center. You can listen to it in the WDVX Archives: Tennessee Shines, Sept. 30, 7:00 pm.

I performed two original poems, Dawn and On the Path to Avalon, at about 7:30 and 7:42 respectively. The musicians who performed were stellar Americana performers. Valley Young provided rich, melodic orchestrations that sent my mind wandering through the empty streets of the small town where I grew up . Marissa Ireland sings that soft, sweet type of country that rolls over you like a morning fog in early fall. Hosts Bob Deck and Paige Travis are great talents who have created a genuine modern variety show. 

WDVX is a nonprofit radio station, headquartered in Knoxville, TN and broadcasting throughout the East Tennessee region. If you live outside of their broadcast area, you can stream live from the website for an authentic taste of Appalachian culture.

Yes, we have culture here in Appalachia. And we're pretty damn proud of it too.
