This is probably the delusion of a content-starved fan but I have been thinking for a long time about how Kagami specifically compared the body of Mitsuba’s demon to the purgatory even though manifestations in general are flamey. I didn’t know if it was only for metaphoric purposes or if the purgatory actually exists in OnS but after this chapter (ch126) I feel like it would be nice if Mitsuba’s demon was actually connected to it. Plus her demon’s flames are blue, not only of a colour that is important in the OnS universe but blue flames are also really hot. Add on to that that Tenjiryū means “Heavenly-shaped dragon” so has a mention to “Heaven” and the shape of their arms are described with the kanji 鎌 (‘kama’) which means sickle/scythe, a weapon that holds strong death symbolism.

Ofc this is just a wish but considering how Kagami said he will soon write Mitsuba actively and how lore-heavy this OnS year is🥺…But nah, there is not much of a hint of Mitsuba being important anyways😭

I beleive many are still sad about the latest chapter, I know it’s somehow weird to see posting theories before official translation but, these few theories I’m sharing are based on with the translator’s help and image interpretation.

Therefore, let’s begin

Long ago, I wrote down a theory about this, but, it was unfinished or had no criteria, now with the latest chapter, there’s something that has turned into a fact.

The latest chapter shows something intriguing about Mika visualizing a perfect world that he’d never have, he sees that everything’s a dream, that he’s living something that was a lovely dream but, there’s something curious within this, what could it be?

We’re aware Mika was turning into a demon, the dream happened way before the hand of a demon actually appeared from his face; which you could say they gave a point of view with Mika before getting out as a demon.

As Mika was talking with Yu, the Yu he spoke with was actually a demon in disguise; and with the sole purpose Mika accepted to turn into one, he talked with him until Mika ended up accepting that deal, which can be seen once his wings appear.

But, what does this have to do with Yuichiro?

First of all, you might think that Yu, being the closest person Mika had, was the person selected by the demon so Mika would give up and accept becoming one, but, why do they call Yu a demon?

Let’s make memory, in chapter 62, when Asuramaru speaks with Yu just after his powers of seraph and demon were lowered thanks to a drug, Asuramaru states the next thing:

At first glance it could be implied Asuramaru refers to the people Yu met but, that’s not the case, what do I mean?

It is well known that Yu was cloned endlessly by Sika Madu; but in the process, he managed to meet Ashera, Krul, Noya, Rigr and Urd.

What does that have to do with this?

Within the people Yu met, two ended up as demons, what do I mean?

Yu is highly the responsible that once vampires reached their last phase, the moment before turning into demons; he had some sort of inlfuence in their final moments within the dreamworld they once had, but how can I state this?

It’d sound like a crazy idea but, Mika was the first one to give us that hint, since the demon chose Yu to disguise into so Mika could turn into a demon but, Mika is not the only person that bonded with Yu, what do I mean?

Correct. Ashera Tepes bonded with Yu even if the Yu he met was different to the one that is living the end of the world; it’s factible that, before Ashera ended up turning into a demon, the last thing he dreamt might have been a memory with Yu, after all, he managed to save his sister and, at the end, his sister ended turning into a vampire.

Therefore, what does this mean?

It’s possible that Byakkomaru, Kiseki-O, Gekkouin, Noya, Raimeki and Tenjiryu have turned into demons thanks to Yu, but, for obvious reasons, not the Yu we know in the story but rather the Yu that was empty, the one that didn’t have a consciousness that were created by Sika Madu.

Therefore, it can be concluded that the only ones that know the truth about why Yu is called “demon” are Rigr Stafford and Sika Madu

Hey guys, welcome to another new theory! 

Before starting, I’d like to say that i wish Mitsuba could appear more in the manga story but well, Kagami knows when her moment to shine will be, therefore, let’s begin!

Mitsuba is one of the characters that shares an important role along the squad, but, compared to the other members, there’s so few information about her, what do I mean? Well, we barely know stuff related to her past such as:

The real aspect of her cursed gear

What did she endured and how did she adquire her cursed gear?

What kind of training did she receive?

Were there experiments involved with her to adquire a cursed gear?

How does she relate with the story itself or what’s her role within it?

Those are the main issues we have with Mitsuba as a character; we barely know details about her; likewise, she’s a main character, she’s involved with the protagonists and it’s likely she’ll get to show off her powers with progress and battle experience; but before talking about her possible role in the story, let’s try answering these questions filled with mystery with headcanons and data according to the story so far.

Aspect of her cursed gear

One of the biggest mysteries for Mitsuba is actually the real aspect of her cursed gear; we know so far that her cursed gear is not from the black demon series, but that doesn’t mean her demon is not powerful, but why? How can I think her demon is powerful?

To begin with, with how the story has gone through; we knew that Shinoa’s cursed gear wasn’t from the black demon series, nor we knew if it had power until it was revealed it was the First Progenitor residing within the cursed gear and the reasons for the limits of power was mainly due to Shinoa shutting down her emotions to restrain the First.

With Mitsuba,there’s a random curiosity with her cursed gear; so far we’ve seen it’s manifestation shape but there’s something rather interesting with the name it holds which is “Tenjiryu”. The name itself refers to a dragon; but, of course, the cursed gears don’t hold animals; the closest thing that they do is to actually wear animal skins so their shape can be molded into it like Shinya’s cursed gear.

Now, returning to her cursed gear; it is likely that the demon within the cursed gear might have met the First Progenitor on his search to find suitable vampires that would eventually become cursed gears; furthermore,the fact that the name of her cursed gear itself implies power; perhaps the demon hidden within the cursed gear might awake and it’s powers might not be equivalent to the First but they might be close to them.

How can I state that?

So far, within the story, many cursed gears that have remained as mysteries end up taking the shape of strong or important figures; and the role fits mainly perfectly due to the fact that Mitsuba has yet to take action or play the role that is awaiting for her.

What did she endured and how did she adquire her cursed gear?

For that, let’s take the aspects of the Catastrophe; Mitsuba was likely to be around the age of 7-8 years old when the catastrophe took place; she had to stand the fact that her parents died and her only support was Aoi; though; the fact that the story hasn’t revealed how their interactions before the whole catastrophe happened; it’s hard to tell if Aoi was always the serious type with her and rude.

At the same time, it’s possible that Aoi did give her love when she was a kid until the JIDA as a group that fights vampires was stablished.

Within this, it is uncertain if Mitsuba adquired her cursed year at a young age like Shinoa but, it’s possible that before she turned 13, she might have adquired her cursed gear, but why?

To begin with, the catastrophe killed all the adults in the world, only allowing to live those who were under 13 years old, so it’s likely that, during that period, Mitsuba endured a harsh training in order to take and claim a cursed gear for her; as to why she decided to pick what it looks like an axe, it might be the fact that as a member of the Sanguu family, they possess strength, physical strength which is something that can be reflected on Aoi.

What kind of training did she receive?

As many might guess, it’s factible that Mitsuba received special training from Aoi to a certain point after the Catastrophe happened; Aoi trained Mitsuba with a harsh training that involved self defence along mastering weapons. How can I state that?

Simple, Aoi was the one who raised to certain extend Mitsuba; she took care of her until she grew up enough to get her involved in the JIDA; of course, within the process, it is likely she received other kind of training until she was able to go out and fight agaisnt creatures of the apocalypse.

Were there experiments involved with her to adquire a cursed gear?

This is actually one of the things that can be filled with doubts; but why?

To begin with, the whole Shinoa squad so far, has been involved with experiments; Yu, Mika, Kimizuki and Yoichi were involved with the experiment of the Seraph of the End; Shinoa’s life was bestowed with the main goal to bring back the First Progenitor with more power; and the only person left within doubt is Mitsuba.

Mitsuba has displayed that she can express her emotions willingly compared to Shinoa; another thing to notice from her, is the fact that she doesn’t have problems holding her cursed gear along with her own commands to it.

Therefore, is it possible that Mitsuba was involved in any experiment?

It is possible and this is mainly for the fact that many humans, in order to survive the apocalypse, had to submit under experiments to be able to hold cursed gears; but beyond that, there might be a remote chance that Mitsuba might have been experimented into, which would actually explain to certain extend, Aoi’s cold attitude towards her, what do I mean?

As many can see, Aoi values strength and loyalty; she’s loyal to the Hiragi family, specially Kureto since she believes on his ideals and goals; the fact that she was willing to sacrifcie Mitsuba for it speaks a lot but; at the same time, it is possible there’s another reason to her cold attitute, which likely might involve Mitsuba’s past.

How does she relate with the story itself or what’s her role within it?

So far, we haven’t seen her full potential, we haven’t seen her a lot in action except for certain battles she has participated with the squad; therefore, it is likely that Mitsuba’s role within the story might develop soon, and this is likely because she’s still a box of surprises; it might be possible that her demon and her own self might play a huge role for the next arc.
