Happy Suikovember!!!

This year, I challenge myself to redraw the official illustrations of Suikoden characters for the first two weeks! Here are the entries of the first week. Is there any of your favorite character? :3

PROPAGANDA

💕 EILEEN 💕

*First Lady of the Toran Republic. Elegant, refined, kind and beloved by the people.

*Highly skilled mage. Uses fancy darts made of rubies and crystals.

*Power behind the throne as Lepant never talks back to her. Also mother to Sheena, a pervert.

💕 TENGAAR 💕

*Daughter of the Chief of the Warriors’ Village. A little rough around the edges.

*Highly skilled mage. Fights using throwing knives.

*sigh* Tengaar. I really want to like her. I mean, she’s kind of one of the more well-known characters of the first two games. She’s brave and strong. She’s a woman in a village where women aren’t supposed to fight, and she fights anyway.

But damn, I just don’t like the way she treats Hix.

Oh, I know she means well. In the Warriors’ Village, you’re not considered a man until you’ve completed that ritual of manhood or whatever. Hix doesn’t care much for fighting, and in the Warriors’ Village, that means you may as well be wearing a skirt. And it’s clear that Tengaar loves Hix, but she wants a man who will take charge and make her feel safe. She actually asks Tir if he’ll protect her instead, saying that “Hix is unreliable.” Really? How bratty can you get? Don’t string the poor guy along if you can’t even accept him the way he is!

But what really annoys me is her actions in Suikoden II. She sends Hix on wild goose chases, making him think that she’s deathly ill, just so that he can “prove himself.” I’m sure her intentions were good, since she just wanted him to feel better about himself, but he was so embarrassed when he found out that this ridiculously easy test was all a farce. Plus, I doubt the stick-up-the-ass Warriors’ Village would have counted it as a “Ritual of Manhood.”
