1949 advice for when you’re sewing... Little did they know a little later Zara would open its first store (1975) and be renowned for its low priced look-a-likes of high end fashion which will lower demand for locally made clothing. We also know that Zara, Topshop and Primark were some of the first retailers offering garments with sweatshop labour. It was really in the 1990’s when Zara offered their 15 day turn around on mass amounts of garments when it started. That was about 30 years ago. Now we are in 2021, a year after the first lockdown after a worldwide pandemic, and ethically made clothing with big sustainable values (not greenwashing) is much more valued 🪡 Fast fashion is so old fashioned, when we talk about fabrics and sweatshops it’s still using the same ways as 30 years ago.
