howdy sorry to bother you, but i was wondering how adoptable things work? ive always heard about them but never really learned how to do that stuff :) like the whole buying and selling them? it sounds really cool and your designs are magnificent and you seem very learned about it i was wondering if you could shed some light for a fool and buffaoon such as i? thank you for your time have a lovely day~!
it’s essentially just transferring personal rights to the character! i’m not the most versed in it, but for me, once someone purchases one of my designs, they’re free to use it like they would a character they made themselves. And unlike coming up with a design from scratch, it comes with art already :D
I still retain the rights to the art I made, and the design is still by me, and I don’t allow people to resell them for a higher price, but otherwise personal use is allowed and they’re welcome to change the design if they want or whatever.
the hardest part of selling adoptables is honestly just.. getting an audience that wants to buy them (and ig making appealing designs). Luckily, thanks to doing a bunch of character commissions for WoW and other games where the focus is on creating characters, there’s a healthy overlap in people willing to buy a design :>

A dice palette for Feldon, the gnomish wizard a la @temporal-paternal-unit
Astral blue and planar purples bloom in the stars. Flashes of fire and elemental magic, all tied together through a keen green eye.
I threw in a planatary d12, given Feldon’s love of the temporal planes as well as a few extra d4s for when he’s got to dish that heavy damage.
