I got up really early this morning to explore more temples with Tiur, Tiar, and Michael. We went to the Prambanan Temple Compound, which has both Hindu and Buddhist temples. The biggest and most famous of the temples is Candi Prambanan, which is the largest Hindu temple of ancient Java. A lot of visitors were there visiting the temple and I got asked to be in a lot of pictures (my hair was shining in the sun that day lol). My favorite temple though is Candi Sewu, which is the second largest Buddhist temple in Indonesia after Borobudur (and actually predates Candi Prambanan). It was more quiet and peaceful at this temple and it was still just as beautiful and magnificent.

After visiting the temples, we went to an AMAZINGGG vegetarian restaurant called Mila’s. I had tempeh steak for the first time and it was soooo goooood... I can’t wait to go home and make it for Alex (maybe he will like it more than regular steak LOL) Mila’s was a really cool place because it’s not only a restaurant, but also an organic market and shop. The food that they sold at the market tasted so good… I hope I can find just as amazing organic food back in the states. The things that they sold at the shop were really cool—wallets, notebooks, pants, bookmarks, hairbands, etc. all made from recycled products by locals. They even had a play room for kids and a reading room full of books—so cool!

After the restaurant, I went to the VIA house and relaxed for a little bit. I watched Pitch Perfect for the first time with Tiar while Mike napped and it was hilarious lol. All of the a cappella really made me miss Alex and his singing though hahaha. We then went to Nanamia’s Pizzeria for pizza because I thought that it would be a good treat for Mike (he eats at his internship because the owners of the farm that he works at also own a restaurant). I also wanted to check-out Nanamia’s second location and I am very impressed! It is similar to the other location by my homestay except this one is setup in a garden area. We split a margherita pizza and a vegetable pizza (yum!) and I had a Coco-Cola (double yum!).

After dinner I met up with Bagus at Asmara Café, which was only a two minute walk away. We watched a really cool rock band—they played a lot of Guns N’ Roses, which was bad ass. I also met some of his friends and they were really cool! Then we all went to hang-out with more friends at another café, which one of them owns, and it was a lot of fun. They were all really cool and most of them spoke some English, so it was easy for me to contribute to the conversation. Most of them are going to be performing at Selamat Pagi, so it was great that I got to meet them and get to know them before the event.

I got home pretty late, but it was worth it. Today was a good day!
