Reclaiming Dawnspeak ( Part 4 )
We raged. We fought. We bled. A whirlwind of chaos surrounded us as our blades rang through out the great hall. Again and again me and the dark knight met. Strike upon strike, blow upon blow. We flew through the air, shattering stone, breaking pillars, destroying everything but each other. I could hear Ospherian in the back ground. He yelled frantically yet I knew my victory was assured. This monster fought for a evil that would be vanquished and I fought for so much more.
I pressed my attack. Knocking his blade aside again and again. Battering down his defenses as I threw myself against him with a fury on par with the gods themselves. No longer would I wait. No longer would my home be denied to me. No longer would I be weak. I cried out in rage as my ax swung down and the beast before me raised his blade to block it. It was not enough for I seared though the steel, shattering the weapon and cutting into my foes flesh. His howl of pain sent terror though Ospherian. I could see him shaking. I could taste the fear reeking off his pathetic form. And I could see him break as I swung my axe one more time, severing the head of his otherworldly creature. My battle was won.
I strode forward, my steps ringing out around me as I closed in on the high seat. The man who had taken everything from me. The one who stole my family, my life, and my home feel to his knees. Dawn slipped from his grasp as he sobbed. The great sword, a weapon of unimaginable power pulsed when I touched it. I could feel the Heart of Dawn within it. I could feel the vastness of the well of Light within it. The power surged though me as I reclaimed what I had come so far for.
Raising the tip of the blade to Ospherian throat I glowed with the Light of a thousand suns. My voice rang out as I spoke down to his crumpled form.
"You have taken all from me. Yet I have come to reclaim it. For your sins of murder and treason, I, Lord Senicuss Dawnraiser, Prince of Dawn, sentence you to death."
He begged then. This weak pathetic thing begged for his life. The few moments he had left on this earth he groveled at me feet until I plunged my blade into his throat. Death was too easy for him, yet I had an oath to maintain. As he lay bleeding before me I turned as I heard the grand doors open behind me. In strode Telman along with a retinue of knights still wearing the Dawnraiser colors. The sight touched me... Perhaps not all as lost. I felt no satisfaction from killing Ospherian yet at the same time, I could return. My men had remained faithful. And there was Sairalis...
Light broke though the windows, shining around me, filling the great hall with the warmth of the rising sun. Dawnspeak had finally broken free of the evil that held it.
I spoke with a man I recognized from my past. Knight Rothsbury. A faithful servant of my family. Though he was of common birth, the man held fidelity and brought his men to aide Telman in holding the door. I spoke to him of my intentions and made my wishes known. He was to act as my castellan when I was away and with his appointment was to see of the running of Dawnspeak. There was much to be done yet he jumped to it with the eagerness of youth.
Turning to Telman I nodded.
"It is finished and now it is high time that we return."
He turned to make sure the preparations were made for our departure. I would return here soon enough yet there was one more that much bleed.
He will not escape his fate.
